Where can I even get any of these games?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:07 pm

I would love to get these Elder Scrolls games of the Travels and Shadowkey and Stormhold etc. But how do I even get a hold of them, and where are they located so I can buy them? I dont have a cell phone with any service currently right now though.

You'd have to get yourself a cellphone and a provider.

I use verizon and was extremely disappointed that I was unable to get all but on of the mobile TES games.

I used to have an LG vx4400, and was able to download and play Dawnstar. Stormhold was for some reason never available for download to me despite the fact that I had a supported phone on a supported carrier and could get Dawnstar. And much to my dismay I was somehow able to buy and download Oblivon for that same phone even though it is apparently unsupported on that model. I was left with one game that was great on a dying phone and another more expensive game that didn't work. When I tried to play Oblivion I would have a character that would just be able to run through different planes of Oblivion at high speed because my weapons were almost all noneffective (had base first level weapons which don't work on ghosts and such). Was really strange.

Now I have an LG vx8600 and can only get Oblivion on it. It's really a shame too. I haven't gotten it yet because I haven't wanted to pay for it a second time yet. I am a little annoyed that Dawnstar and Stormhold were only made for 3 models of Verizon supported LG phones and can't be used on newer models. It's also a little annoying/depressing that Shadowkey, the mobile TES game that perhaps has the most appeal to me, is only for Ngage phones.... which I can't afford to go out and get a new phone and service for it for the sole purpose of playing a game. I'd also have to go to a different provider for that phone too since for all I can find, Verizon doesn't support any Ngage compatible models.

It svcks too because I'd really love to be able to play these games and experience the lore and worlds that were created in them.

For anyone interested in Shadowkey, the new Nokia's might be interesting choice for a new phone. Take a peek here:

A much better idea if you ask me.

Unfortunately, the new Nokia N-Gage platform isn't backwardscompatible with the old one so it's not possible to play Shadowkey on it :(

I've been http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=651543, but there seem to be zero interest in it :(

Shame really, as it's a really good game (much better than the other Travels games) and I will buy a new phone later this year, and it will probably be an http://www.n-gage.com/get_ngage/devices.html. Big phone event in Barcelona next week in which they will probably announce more N-Gage compatible phones.

I do have the original N-Gage in the closet. The only reason for me to take it out from there is when I want to play Shadowkey, heh.

Bugger. Really? That's a shame.
I still have a few copies I might auction off one day for my brother's charity work (WaterAID), but it seems only the die hard TES fan might be interested if the new Nokia's are not back ward compatible.

I'm new to this mobile gaming idea. But you have got to be kidding me! You can't get a game unles your provider offers it? No wonder modile gaming isn't taking of!
What a joke!
With this kind of distribution any one puting money into developing these games has to be senile.

I, too, had problems. At the 4th shop that didnt have any I ended up going to Beaurepaires where they directed me to another franchise up the road.

In the UK I had Oblivion and Stormhold. Neither worked. Very disappointing. But then it's incredibly hard to make something "work" when your targets have a bewilderingly diverse range of hardware.

Or perhaps a version on whatever the current variant of a Gameboy is (sorry, I haven't bought a handheld game system since Gameboy Advanced, so I'm a little behind on its progress)...

No.

Shadowkey was made for the old N-Gage, a device running Symbian OS v6.1 and the N97 run Symbian OS v9.4. The 9.x OSes are unable to run the earlier 6.x, 7.x and 8.x software. So no new devices can run Shadowkey. The original N-Gage device and the N-Gage QD device are the only two devices that can officially run it.

Kinda like how the 64-bit version of Windows Vista is unable to run any kind of Windows 3.x software, or something :P

I wish Vir2L could make a new version of Shadowkey, for the new N-Gage platform. In that case the N97 would be able to run it. And it would do the platform good too, cause most of the games available for the current N-Gage platform, well, http://www.n-gage.com/ngi/ngage/web/se/en/showroom.html.

Dang. Well the original N-Gage is cheap in auctions, but I'd rather get my hands on the game first...

Nah. iPhone/Ipod touch. What the N-gage platform SHOULD have been. I just think Nokia screwed themselves by not developing it properly.
