Hews bane and Hews bay

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:18 pm

A few minutes ago I saw a tamriel map from UESP and there was this island on the South East side of Hammerfell. The bay between the island and Hammerfell is called Hews Bay. The island has a part called Hews bane. Does anyone know if this is some user made up place or is there any history behind it? Thanks

the peninsula (not island) is indeed the Hews Bane, but i dont recall the bay ever being named in lore.

There's nothing on it. From a lore standpoint and a geographic. No sources and from all the maps we've seen, there isn't even a village on it, so one can conclude that it is horribly unliveable for one reason or another, and this coming from the region with a huge desert not too far away.

The place name was first shown on the http://www.imperial-library.info/maps/tamriel_westmap.bmp, where, as you can see, the name is nigh illegible. I doubt anyone is particularly sure what it is called, leading to interpretations such as 'Hnes Rax' and the more common 'Hews Bane".
