Didn't read the whole thread but Brian says that they may make it so that you can't embark on a journey that you don't have enough fuel to return from. I personally think that you should see your gas gauge and nothing else. It would be much more intense having to eyeball the range your trying to travel and gamble whether you can make it back or not.

An MMO/RPG Left 4 Die style would be awesometastic

The folks over at http://undeadlabs.com/ are working on an MMO like that. For the console, though. :celebration: Finally, us console gamers get some MMO lovin'! And it has zombies. Which is always a welcome bonus.

Very excited to see how it turns out. I hope it doesn't flop, if only for the fact that it would prove that an MMO on a console is a viable option.

Was just thinking about this game and I can honestly not wait until its release. I've always wanted to play a zombie survival rpg.

I love these. Just how I want zombie combat - survival, not action, counts. And number 12 nails it. ^_^

I'm very intersted in this title. Looking at some screens on other sites. Even if the graphics arnt that good this game should still be awesome. I mean an RPG zombie game, for real?? That's just too good to be true.

Let me be frank here, I will look forward to this game about as much as I will look forward to Age Of Decadence.... not at all. The developers are, in short, elitist nerds with their heads stuck a little to high up where the sun don't shine, there's just no nice way for me to say that. Like Age Of Decadence this game will have great, great promises made about it and will be made using an out of date engine both to avoid having to pay to much and to make it look 'retro and a return to the Good Old Days', I doubt it will come to much.

Vince with AoD maybe (he posted a decent New Vegas review though), but Brian and Annie don't seem to be that bad. And they have a good developer background.

You do realise that the people making this game are not the same as the ones behind AoD, yes?

I can not fathom the hate at turn based and the view, and of the people making the game.

This game has great ideas, and looks be at least some what original, unlike call of duty modern warfare 56 granny's with knives and halo 403 master chief is a woman.

Yeah, it has zombies in it, but its not about them. Its about surviving, and dealing with other people who are with you, or just want that box of ammo and those MRE'S you got horded up.

Its about making choices, do I let Fred who has been with me the whole game die because he got bit? or do I try to find him some meds and hope for a cure?
Do I go back and look for the guy who was packing all the extra food we found? or cut the losses and leave and hope for food else where.?
Do I go in and clear the zombies out, or grab what I can and avoid drawing more this way? or do I draw them here and clear other areas up?

If the game delivers is yet to be seen, but at least they are trying, its nice to know at least something out there is different than "the same game with a new coat of paint 3!".

Also, yeah for me L4D was lol zombies shoot em, just like Dead rising was.
One is "here are some zombies, and some guns, kill them and escape the map"
The other is "here are some zombies and a lot of common items, have fun! Oh yeah there is a story too!"
^
Ib4 straw man/generations!

If it comes out, try it you might like it.

I used to dislike, corn bread, till I tired it, same with meatballs and sour cream.

It’s worth noting that “zombies are just an excuse to look at how people perform in a crisis” was basically the original philosophy of the zombie film genre, and pretty much every single game to feature zombies has instead been about shooting them in the head.

This is a real, actual zombie game.

Sounds like a great game, and it reminds me of Fallout because it's a very different setting and of course the turn based combat and camera angle (which truthfully, I'm not a huge fan of, but whatever)

The upcoming edition of PC Gamer (or current? With Diablo III on the cover) will have some new info and exclusive screenshots of Dead State. :)

If you want to get a look at the dialogue system, some new areas, and our first NPC shots and portraits, pick up PC Gamer this month.

I wish I could get my hands on that PC Gamer issue...

Several people in your shelter have the infection. The antibiotics are rarer all the time and it’s getting harder to supplement the supply with homemade versions. A doctor and scientist in your shelter think they have an idea on how to slow the rate of infection with a non-antibiotic approach. The only problem is that the medical equipment is very specific and can only be found in a hospital. Hospitals were ground zero for infection and are still crawling with the undead.

Only someone with advanced medical training can identify this equipment. If your character specialized in medicine, they could retrieve it themselves, but this is not the case for your current character setup. To fetch the medical equipment from the hospital for this experimental procedure, a doctor will have to go in with you. That leaves space for you and two other people – the doctor has no combat skills. It’s a big risk and not necessarily going to work. There’s a chance you could lose your only doctor, which would surely hurt morale, yet if the procedure works, it would boost morale in the shelter. The doctor knows the risks and wants to take them to help people.

I'm really looking forward to this. A zombie game that won't be god awful. I've been playing Dead Frontier while I wait, but it just can't fulfil by zombie RPG needs ;__;

looks pretty good, i am not a huge fan of turn based, but i am pretty tolerant to overhead perspective. Loved fallout, and have somewhat high expectations for this game.

a zombie game with isometric, turn-based RPG combat similar to Fallout and Fallout 2 paired with X-COM’s base management

I'm always filled with joy when I read the description of this game.

Since Fallout was turn-based and Mitsoda has a distinct style of writing, close to the one most commonly used in the old Fallout games, you might find this game very nice. ^_^

Anyone else see The Sims: Zombie Apocalypse when they look at the screens?

I'm all for the idea for sure, it sounds great, but the graphics make me keep checking whether a green diamond has shown up above the main character or not.

The devs themselves said that base and social management are like X-Com: SimZombies, or something like that. ^_^

Sorry to come late to the zombie party but this quote made me LOL from the PCGamer preview:

"In Mass Effect 2 terms—think about having the freedom to shove Miranda out the airlock on a whim after she spilled your coffee."

I've wanted to do that many a time...
