Shor vs. Auriel

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:46 pm

If, hypothetically, a giant war were to break out between those that subscribe to the merish school of thought of Mundus = prison, and the mannish school of thought of Mundus = Shor's mercy, which racial group would join who? I'm curious to know what people think and their reasons.

The only one I could really could say without any doubt would be the nords would be in league with Shor, and the altmer with Auriel.

The pantheons and philosophies have been too murked up for that to ever be clear. For instance, the imperials would never follow Auriel into battle but gladly die for Akatosh and vice-versa for the Altmer. To us they are the same, but to them they are two very different gods. The Nords are surly Shor worshipers, but are the Bretons and Imperials? And, even though they're men, the Redguards seem to vilify Shor, but again would Auriel be "Tall papa" to them? And what of the Bosmer, they are elves but seem to worship the Earth Bones and don't subscribe to the hatred of Mundus. And what of the Argonains? We know nothing about them, or the Khajitt or the Sload and how they would react in such a situation. What of the Akaviri? And what about the Dunmer and Orcs? They worship Daedra, so would they even take sides in this conflict? Both reject the worship of Auriel but also seem to vilify Shor.

Basically, its a loaded question and really can't be asked.

Okay, so what about ideologies? I only threw in Shor and Auriel as being that represent the ideology of Nirn = prison/not prison, which is more of the focus I was leaning to, not who would fight specifically for Shor or Auriel.

And this thread is for the purpose of just having some fun guessing and speculating. I realize that there is a bunch of missing information, and that's largely the point of this, too see what you think which race would view Mundus = prison or not. Perhaps I should rename the title of the thread.

There was almost no point in asking this question. Any race that sees Shor as bad isn't going to follow him. And vice versa. As Mortazo pointed out, with some, e.g. the Nords, it gets confusing and obsfucated: Lorkhan has two aspects, which are Shor (good) and the Greedy Man (bad), and Aka doesn't even techincally exist in their pantheon, for Alduin is basically Satakal with an Akatosh overtone. We don't even fully know what the Argonians believe.

-_- looks like I am guilty of wrongly wording the intent of this thread.
