That's it, I'll never post anything optimistic about this case ever again. I only make things worse. ^_^
It's not "he" it's "they".

And not so much "they" as "today those, tomorrow those others, the day after some of both", and so on.

yeah i know but i use he because there is more than one anonymous group. he means the actual anonymous group and they means the others. :) i supposed i could do they1 and they2.

Millions of accounts stolen =/= millions canceling their subscriptions. Even if they did obtain all that information, they really couldn't do too much with it. Not with that sheer amount of data.

So unless I'm horribly wrong, the most anyone needs to do is change their password.

The hackers got into a credit card database from 2007 as well and stole something to the effect of 12500 non-US(apparently) credit cards. Anyone whose credit/debit number hasn't expired since then should be watching their account closely.

Yep, I play Everquest and it's not looking like our raids are happening this week at this rate. They are working to get everything up again "as soon as possible" but they are saying it may take as long as a week. We were making great progress on the final boss of the previous expansion too.

Rumors are that compensation might include 30 days of PSN+ for regular PSN users, and 30 free days for PSN+ subscribers. If I dl all those nice freebies as a temporary PSN+ user, do I get to retain access to them (for free) after my 30 days is up?

ALSO: I read in the WSJ that Sony said they'd been under attack for 6 weeks. You think they would have gotten the hint and beefed up security to prevent this sort of data breach.

Nope.

Q: What happens when my PlayStation Plus subscription ends?

A: The content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber. The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber. Anything you have purchased (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

Nope.

Well, then that's pretty crappy "compensation" for having my personal info stolen - just a sales gimiick! Sony, I am disappoint.

With PS+ you get discounts sometimes on game purchases and free downloads I think sometimes. With the free PSN you still get online multiplayer, can chat with friends, and full access to the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Home.

Early access to stuff, freebies (that regular PSN users have to pay for), stuff like that, I think. Special content. There's probably more details on Sony's website, assuming they haven't taken that offline, too. :P

Why is Playstation stuff being discussed in the SOE thread?

Anyway, SOE posted a quick http://www.soe.com/securityupdate/recentupdates.vm page.
