Removing an Object location Ref from a save

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:53 am

I have a mod that moves a chest in one of the vanilla Inns (Merchant's Inn) so an extra bed can be added, however, when I load my game, even after doing the standard process of making a "clean save", when I go back to the Inn, the chest is still in it's original place.

(in other words, I saved outside the Inn, removed the mod, loaded the game, saved in a cell outside the Inn, exited, added the mod back, loaded, went back to the Inn and the chest was still in it's original place - stuck inside the newly added bed).

How do I delete the original location data, or otherwise get the game to recognize that the object has been moved? I even tried disabling the chest, leaving the cell, and saving, then add the mod, go back to the Inn, but then the chest is still gone. So moving an object with a mod isn't enough for the game to create a new copy of a disabled object.

Help would be great!

If you have a copy of RefScope installed, you can use it to find out if the chest you're trying to deal with is marked persistent. Persistent objects cannot be relocated once you've been to the location in the game. Except by using a script, which would result in the object's new location becoming permanent even if the mod that scripted the move is later removed.

Unfortunately you already disabled it in the console, and if you don't have the formID handy, getting it back is a bit of a pain since you'd need to pop open the CS, go to that location, and get the ID number that way so you can re-enable it in the game. Or you could just refscope it with an older save.
