[REQ] Guild Wars style necromancy

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:51 am

Is there a mod that grants a necromancer the ability to use corpses around him/her to raise zombies, ghost or something like that from the dead?
In Guild Wars a necromancer is powerful and can do many things that make the necromancer a powerful and unique class. One of those things is the ability to use corpses create minions that protected the necromancer. I haven't played Guild Wars in a while and I normally play Oblivion but I miss this form of necromancy. Oblivion doesn't have a deep unique form of necromancy that would live up to the disgust of Arch Mage Traven. I am barely sure of what the fuss is about necromancy because necromancy doesn't seem to exist in any real form.

Imagine fighting a troop of Imperial legion guards by using their own buddies to wipe them out one by one until they are overwhelmed with your minions. I think that would be a fun sight. And even more to see an enemy to the same thing to you.

I like the idea of a playing a twisted evil mage that likes to experiment and this would be a nice addition to the game to make a class that very unique.

If such mod doesn't exist could someone make it please I'm sure the community will appreciate it?

I am not sure whether this meets the requirements you are describing, but try looking up 'The Necromancer' by Giskard. His home forums may be found by searching for The Engineering Guild.

Lets be honest, its never "Guild Wars' Minion Master style" if http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070625220521/gw/images/6/69/Animate_Flesh_Golem_creature_model.jpg.

Gotta agree with you there.

I would like to see someone try to make this happen, though. It'd make Oblivion much more...interesting.

You should keep an eye on craftybits necromancy..it's still in development, but itching close to a release. There is an open beta of sort or at least a test version for those that are interested.

The mod aims to deliver the most complete necromancy feeling to date in oblivion. You can skin the npc's you kill (really visually flay them, like removing their skin, eyes, skull, liver, intestines, bones) with unique textures for each stage, even argoninans have a more pinkish tone to their flesh to account for their lizard ancestry.

using a circle with arcane symbols you can assemble a skeleton (even race specific, as there are skulls for each race and you can make tails on them) using various bones, ectoplasm, your own blood and a soul (where the strength of the soul determines the strength of the minion).
You can also make various zombies (ash zombie, zombie bomb, fire zombie) and ghouls and even a skeleton version of dreugh looking creature.
Necromancer npc have also been worked on a little as they now carry necromancer loot ( necromantic books like arkay the enemy, corpse preparation, legion of the dead and raise undead scrolls)
The tome of unlife have also been reworked...reading it produces research notes on various necromantic theories and is very well done. I also think that dwelling too deep in the tome of unlife causes haunting ( like random creepy noises and ghosts appearing, haven't experienced it myself, so it may be a feature in the working)

It's still in development and has a few bugs but great potential!

the forum is on this site, just scroll down to craftybits necromancy..there is two threads: http://thewormhole.nfshost.com/forum/index.php/board,165.0.html

The necromancer by giskard is a strict lore mod and does not offer much in gameplay except for a few fetch me that quests and necromancer tower home.
But it's pretty good as it adds a player friendly necromantic faction.
you should also check out kvatch rising which add another friendly necromancer faction and origins of the mages guild that will eventually allow necromancers into the university.
