a conundrum (is that how you spell it?)

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:20 pm

hi guys, newbie here. pleased ta meetcha

first off, i like to play morrowind in a way which makes my character have to deal with the consequences of certain actions. so even if i really screw up, i have to find a way out of it. just part of the roleplaying for me.

but ive come into a perdicament which i just cant figure out. my character has completed the first 4 trials of the nerevarine, but has failed half way through the fifth trial. (ended up killing pretty much every Erabnimsjnsidugbsiaf tribe member, dont ask..)

now to me, the fact that i can wear the moon and star ring, as well as being noted as the nerevarine by the gods Azura and Dagoth Ur, as well as meeting every other damned requirement, there is simply no doubt that my character is, if not the "nerevarine", then simply a reincarnation of the great Nerevar. this is indisputable, what with the moon and star.

do you see the problem? for all intents and purposes, i am Nerevar reborn, but I am not the nerevarine.

can anyone try to make some sense of this? most importantly i need advice on what my character should next do.

thanks for any help!

go kill Vivec in his palace. Loot the body, take the gauntlet you find. Visit Yagrum in corpusnarium(sp?) He'll turn it into wraithguard if you can get him Kargenacs journal and planbook. Go get keening and sunder.

note: your going to lose like 200 health permanently doing this method. You should reload a save if possible.

Doesn't really need to be in the lore forum...

edit: Didn't a message come up stating that you're world is basically doomed and that you should reload?

Darth, as much as i appreciate the idea, my goal is not to complete the main quest as quickly as possible. also, i like to consider the fact that my character does not even know about the wraithguard or either of the other tools, so it does not make sense for me to go forth with that plan (unless my character was omniscient).

946000, i placed it in the lore forum as i was interested what the lore buffs thought of the meaning of being evident Nerevar Reborn, but not the nerevarine. with their opinion on such a position it would be easier for me to make a decision as to what my character is to do next. yes i noticed the message, but as ive already stated, i like to deal with the consequences of my actions, it makes it more dramatic and real and absorbing to me.

any other input?

Note that my post WILL have spoilers. Don't read all of it if you don't want to.

Concerning the actual programming in the game, I question whether you could actually complete the game. I guess what Ravager suggest can work, but I don't know if you had to do other stuff first for the possibility to arise to gain Wraithguard from Yagrum.

Concerning the lore, the idea of the Nerevarine not being the Nerevarine has been raised before. And of course, it is perfectly reasonable and logical to think so: you have ther right to denounce the possibility near the end of the MQ. Nerevar's soul has come back before; look at the failed Incarnates. They too were Nerevar Reborn, just not the Nerevarine, an idea I'm sure you understand.

And welcome to the lore forum. :)

You are not Nerevar Reborn (yet), since you haven't had the chance yet to declare yourself appropriately. The opportunity to do that is presented to you later. Right now, the current status of your character would be that he "could be the Nerevarine and Nerevar Reborn", just as Nibani Maesa said. You have not completed all the trials. Whether being able to wear the ring actually has more than a symbolic meaning is doubtful, since you, as I said, can declare yourself Nerevar Reborn or not (which makes you Nerevar Reborn or not). Besides, I remember hearing that if you give the ring away to someone, he's not getting killed.

As suggestion to your character: From what you said about your character's knowledge, he seems stuck. There are a few options to consider:
- Use of force just as DarthRavager suggested.
- Abandon the quest and live the life you want as long as you can.
- Go join the ghosts in Azura's Cave and lament with them about your common failures.

946000, i think you summed it up with mention of the other incarnates. they too were nerevar reborn (to the best of their knowledge), but NOT the nerevarine. whats interesting is that i havent died though, but then again, maybe when i DO die, my ghost will appear in the same tomb.

and haha Nalion your last idea made me laugh :D

i had thought that the ring was rather significant, but i guess ultimately i have not fulfilled the trials and therefore as of yet are not the nerevarine, though i might be. i guess somehow my character simply got around the "dying" when the ring is worn by some reason he is unaware of. and perhaps Azura was simply mistaken when she greeted me as Nerevar.

i think im going to go with the 3rd option in a way actually.

cheers for everything guys.

Um, yes you do. The Holamayan monks gave you Kagrenac's Tools so you know about Wraithguard.
And this should probably go to the MW cheats and spoilers sections.

I understand that one of the several prophecies say that you are to be declared Nerevarine by four ashlander tribes, but since there is but the three now that you can access, and since the Erabiminsun are no longer available to protest your declaration. By rights and majority, you have been declared Nerevarine.

But then again, I am sitting in this corner of the House of Troubles and how much stock should you put in that?
