Is it normal for oblivion to be using 1,500,000K of memory?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:51 pm

Its presence is not helping the game's memory usage rate...

Is it really that demanding? I didn't realize... hmm...

I've been avoiding the main quest since the Baurus sewer quest is still broken from TIE4MODS, maybe I should just svck it up and let it go. The new version will have the FCOM compatability problems fixed I'm guessing? If TIE4MODS is causing some of my crashes due to the incompatibiliy with FCOM, then I suppose it's not worth it. But if it's not causing crashes I would keep it. decisions....decisions. thanks.

I'm leaning more to getting rid of it now.

You have not noticed any AI overload issues with that mod installed? I guess you have a really nice processor then. That's cool...

AI overload issues? let me think.

Now and then bodies are floating over the ground with their arms out. don't know if that qualifies.

also periodically I'll shoot at someone long distance and the arrow will miss right through them....plus they'll be frozen unless I take a step. Which they'll move until I stop walking. etc....plus sometimes I'll walk up to an enemy (who arrows will ignore at long distances) and they'll suddenly warp somewhere nearby as if they were walking around. This seems to qualify.

But your suggestion would be how much of an improvement? I don't know at all. Thanks for making it, and I'll keep it in mind.

Major. As in the difference between me once crashing every 20-40 minutes to crashing once every blue moon or so when combined with the proper OSR configuration and the LAA patch. Which does zero good on a 32-bit system.

My experience leans toward yes. I only rarely see "Jesus pose" corpses now, whereas they were very common before. Still have the AI overload problem but I don't think that's going away anytime soon with a large mod load, and I'm certainly not giving up TIE.

So you believe TIE4MODS is causing a significant amount of my crashes then?

I think trying to play with a large mod load in general is causing it. Everything contributes to that. Something eventually pushes it past the brink. Which is where assuming that a particular mod you just removed was causing it is a bad idea.

ah, I see. I've become quite used to having CTDs over the years, and have become pretty spoiled about what I have in the game. It's so hard to ween yourself off of browsing and adding new amazing mods. heheheh...I've known for a while that CTDs are just a part of a heavy LO. I'm ok with that. I just know there's sooo much I don't know yet as far as tweaks and compatibility issues that are so specific to certain combinations. This thread has been super helpful for me in just sharpening my LO that little bit more. thanks for your advice.

That depends on how you define "a heavy LO". I'm running +150 mods (not counting replacers etc.) and have a very stable game on an old rig with only 1 GB RAM etc. That said, I DO get issues/CTD's if playing long enough during the same session as it simply gets overloaded after a while. But my point is that random CTD's aren't normal or inescapable when using lots of mods.

Is it normal for the house to be on fire...? NO... lmao....

Do you use Streamline OSR or anything? if not that might help...

Also download TES4Gecko and merge some of your minor mods to lighten the esp load on your LO. also if you do not already run a BOSS to get everything in its proper place for a happy LO. You could also get PyFFi and PyFFi Automation and start using it to clean up the nifs in all the mods you use/download from then on out.

Yup, I use Streamline, OSR, Quiet feet, Low low poly grass, and BOSS. The PyFFI approach I havent been able to tackle yet. Can someone recommend the best thread that explains the steps for clueless people like me?

The opening post of my site's thread, the PyFFI Info & Relz thread, which is linked to in the former, and the most up-to-date info I have gathered is here: http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=pyffi
