Thieves Guild Info

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:50 pm

I've always played the hero who is loved by all in Daggerfall, and decided to play an evil hero earlier this week. I created my character and got into the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild in no time, and have made it to rank two in the Thieves Guild now, Filcher. When I gained that rank I was told that I could buy and sell within the guild, but I have yet to see anybody who will buy or sell, aside from the guy who buys magic items. Is that what the guy was talking about, or was this yet another unfinished feature?

That's all there is. There may have been intended to have a fence or outlet of some sort, but it apparently didn't make it. And in case you wonder about it later: no, you cannot sell soulgems to the Dark Brotherhood, only buy, despite what they tell you, and despite how unbelievably awesome that would have been. A soul dealer? Hah, what a dark profession, I would have loved the ability, but alas it';s just not in there.

Just the previously mentioned:

;)

Nice thing about the TG, though, is that none of the quests involve dungeons.

Yeah but so far I've only had two really fun TG quests where I was contracted to break into a palce and steal something. The rest have beeen "Go to this inn, swap items, come back to me" and they're kind of boring. I got one awesome DB quest though. It took me to some coven to kill an upstart assassain, and then to Castle Necromoghan to kill his employer who chose not to use the DB for his task.

I have discovered that playing the evil character means you progress incredibly fast, including already having mithril weapons and armor, due to breaking into the "perfect" armories every few nights. I had dwarven and ebony at level two, and then I stopped to do quests for the guilds for a while, and I am now level six with mithril. I don't believe that my good character got it THAT easily.

What's funny is you can be in the most godforsaken part of the Dragontail Mts. and a messenger boy will hand you a letter from Mynisera, but they can't put out a cross-province warrant for your arrest.

LOL! My personal favorite was stepping out of The Odd Blades at 2AM, having a ghost and wraith combo fly up to me, and some kid handed me the first letter of the game. It even said he was wandering around yelling my name, and then said he couldn't stay because he had other deliveries to make! So apparently, couriers are not attacked by mobs in Daggerfall, but everything else is.

Considering some of the locations they've found me, I can only add that their tracking skills must be the stuff of legends. When they give up the courier business, I suspect many of them may become PIs.

Whatever their pay, it cannot be enough.
