Error with Arena extraction

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:54 pm

Hello.

Ok, so here's the problem. I downloaded DOSbox-0.72, and also got Arena from this site. I've loaded Arena into the DOS emulator and it works fine, however, there's once I've finished with character creation and the bluish lady who speaks to me in my dreams is finished talking, the screen goes black and I see nothing more. I noticed during the extraction of Arena106 I get an Error message that says:

"Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation."

Looking at the extraction window it says after a list of items extracted:

CRC failed in ARENA\WATERANI.RCI
Unexpected end of archive

I tried re-downloading the copy of Arena, and even other sources but the error repeats itself. Does anyone know how I could resolve this issue, or have a working copy?

Thanks

When you did the second (or third) download, did you save it to the same place? I'd probably save it somewhere different just to make sure that the new download didn't get mixed up with the bad one.

That is, if you first saved it to the desktop, try making a Dload folder and save it there, instead. If you check the file sizes under properties, you'll probably see they aren't the same and you should be able to get a good install with the second one.

Delete your browser cache and then try to download it again.

Try running it as an administrator.

Take Freddo's advice. If your browser has it in the cache, it uses that instead of grabbing it again. Also, if this continues, run scandisk as it may be saving to a bad sector on the drive. I would also go to a command prompt and run "chkdsk /f" so that checkdisk will run after you reboot your machine and that can fix file errors and such.

Never mind, I've gotten it to work, as well as run smoothly. However, I have yet to be able to attack other than using fire dart. I can't seem to find anything to use but my fists, which I can't seem to be able to swing either. heh.
