Four questions

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:00 am

Okay, I have four questions:

Who IS Talos? I always thought he was simply the human Tiber Septim who achieved apotheosis; but apparently he is also Ysmir who is a Nordic aspect of him. Clarification?

Lorkhan is not dead, right? He is a God and thus cannot die; so rippign out his heart would have only stopped him from doing things, but kept him alive? Or am I wrong

What did Umaril mean by 'your mortal Gods' in his translations from the Ayleid tongue? Are the Nine mortal'ish or what?

Who is Auri-EL? In KOTN, the bosmer who wishes to join you says he wants to praise Auri-El, or Akatosh as we call him. But aren't they different beings?

Thanks. These are just a few of the things that confuse me a lot. ( The rest I have seen posted here for ages (mainly sithis & sheogorath vs CoC) ).

Have you read this pinned thread?

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=195079

Auri-El is an elven deity who was merged into the Akatosh persona when Alessia "created" the cult of the Eight. Lorkhan was omitted from the cult because of merish problems with him.

I'm no expert but I believe one notion of the Eight was that they sacrificed themselves to create Nirn. They're dead in the sense that they cannot manifest in Nirn. In another sense they ARE Nirn. Maybe that makes them "mortal gods" to Umaril. Or maybe they're just the gods of mortals. /shrug

Have you checked out The Imperial Library? You can find a lot of reading on your issues there. Some of it is contradictory. That's the way it is in TES. Some questions don't have definitive answers.

See the Talos from Atmora thread for Talos info.

He didn't become a "Divine" until Morrowind. I don't see why they bothered. They already revere Tiber Septim enough for his mortal accomplishments - including him as part of the pantheon was a big mistake. Notice how nobody cares about the old divines anymore, and everybody in Oblivion is pretty much exclusively uttering prayers to Talos and Akatosh? You might as well get rid of the others if your religion is that self-centered. :stare:

It is also the great and almighty Talos that turned Cyrodiil into a forest and probably wove the boring Oblivion plotline. As you can see, I dislike him.

Peace be with you, and praise be to the Eight Divines!

That's why you see other thread. He physically and literally became a god. He isn't just revered highly; he ACTUALLY became a god.

His heart is the heart of Nirn, and he is interwoven with it. He's not dead, so much as traqed and "asleep" as his being chained to Nirn is the only thing keeping it functioning. He is still 'alive" in the sense that his consciousness is still intact, and every so often he manifests a mortal avatar,t he Underking being one of them.

The book http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/aedra_daedra.shtml should answer a good deal for you, Crimson.

Aedra can be killed, Daedra cannot.

According to this book, Lorkhan is dead.
