Do you associate seasons with specific TES games?

So the weather's finally become consistently pleasant here in New Jersey, and a few days ago I decided to open all the windows in my house (and leave them open) for the first time in what must have been months. For once, my weekend morning was exceptionally productive. As Dovahkiin a person of Scottish descent, I'm really used to the cold but can be quite finicky when things get warmer than, say, 65 degrees. For once, this wasn't the case at all. All day, an omnipresent wind followed on my back as I perambulated about tending to my morning routines. The trees outside, their leaves a pale golden-green color, were receiving treatment just as adequate - and I could certainly appreciate that. Lots of people put on their headphones as soon as they get onto the computer, but to me the soft rustle in the trees and the sound of the birds outside could sustain me for a lifetime. I also have a skylight, so during this time of the year my room is absurdly bright for most of the day. Take that, middle-class people. :teehee:

And yet through it all, as I went about, all I could think was "gee, this reminds me of Cyrodiil." I had a strong urge to play Oblivion all day, although I've kind of been suppressing Elder Scrolls urges lately so that Skyrim will prove to be even more of an enjoyment once it's finally out. I suppose it's not anything out of the ordinary to associate different things with one another, but I have plenty of friends who'd probably call me mad for likening something as general as the springtime to a computer game. Of course, my fondest memories of Oblivion are when I first got it in the springtime, and Cyrodiil itself always leaves me longing for its return.

Thinking about it, I have this issue with the other games too. The wintertime, especially when it's snowing, reminds me heavily of Daggerfall. Probably because of that wonderful memory of finally escaping Privateer's Hold and finding yourself on the city streets in the middle of a beautiful winter. Plus there's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ97I2p4_YY. Morrowind reminds me of the autumn, because the land itself feels ancient and very "magical".

Have any of you ever likened your TES experiences to the seasons, or anything equally mundane? :P

Well, obviously Skyrim reminds me of Winter, and I guess Cyrodiil is like Spring or Summer. I live in Southwest western Australia, though, so the environment and weather are quite different from any TES games. Summers here are pretty hot (Can get to >40 degrees celsius) and winters are cool, but they don't have snow or anything.

I've never really thought about it. Cyrodiil I guess feels like mid-spring/summer time. Vvardenfell feels Summery/Autumn, I reckon. Obviously Solstheim and Skryim are winter.

But to be honest, all those places have seasons, so, for RP reasons, I tend to imagine it's actually the season that the current month corresponds to.

Morrowind is clearly autumn - brown and warm colours with bits of green interspersed within it.

Arena tends to make me think spring thanks to it having the most vivid greens I can think of in the series, though between the seasonal changes, the early graphics, and the moving between provinces it's hard to tell.

Oblivion runs into high/late summer to me, with the green colour being somewhat faded.

Daggerfall's probably the hardest to give one to, with both the winter and spring/summer showing up fairly well. I'm going to go with the second, though.

I think it's fair to say that Skyrim's definitely going to fall under winter. :P
