Bethesda, Please Read

Hey Bethesda,

Long time ES fan here and I would just like to say, the trailer for Skyrim was amazing! I was sitting in my chair with my mouth open and chills all over! Anyways, on to the srs bzns. Please don't do what all other developers are doing and drop all support for the most loyal of PC gamers and release some shotty port, ie. post e3 05 Oblivion. In the early builds of Oblivion, the graphics were actually better! Such as the dynamic soft shadowing and longer view distances. Don't rip us off please? Build the game around PC then port it to consoles, that's a more logical idea dont you think guys? Well, enough of my ranting, please just don't disappoint me and the rest of the PC gaming community.

Love, an ES fan. :)

They're building around the 360 and that's not going to change, especially so late in development.

Oblivion? Early 2006? Xbox 360 still new and PS3 NOT EVEN RELEASED? PC version still looks better, anyway, for those few who actually had the computers capable of maxing out its graphics at the time?

No offense, but they did what you asked (the game was developed primarily for PC hardware... considering they didn't even know the 360's specs until the last 6 months of a four year development cycle and considering the PS3 wasn't even released when Oblivion was) and PCs of the time didn't handle much more than the brand new and unreleased seventh-generation consoles of the time. They were pretty much on par with each other (higher-end PCs and consoles) and this thread just seems to serve as a thread meant to force consoles into the position of a scapegoat for the fact that Oblivion is an aged game. Those shadows would have, and may still, melted nearly everyone's gaming PC, at the time, and may still present a very large problem today, considering Oblivion's largely unoptimized engine (notice that modders still haven't brought those into Oblivion's graphics changing mods). That Skyrim trailer showing 360 footage has very well-done shadows. The reason is Bethesda created a properly functioning game engine, this time around.

If they do a custom UI and a DX11 support I'm pleased as a PC player.

the stuff they cut out of oblivion couldn't fit into the full game and or wasn't up to the standard they wanted so removed it. why look for the negatives and enjoy the positives oblivion provided
