Since Woodcutting is confirmed

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:47 am

Do you guys want some sort of mini game for making a fire or something? Since woodcutting is in I'd expect some sort of mini game. Cause why would they add woodcutting and not have a use for it? So discuss what you want to see in the game involving woodcutting.

A little minigame would be nice and you could also sell the wood you've cut down. Easy money.

I can already imagine immersion mods taking advantage of this system and creating RP mods, where you can be a lumberjack making a living that happens to get svcked up into some grand scheme finding his destiny or some sort. This open ended nature is exactly why if I had to pick one series to play for the rest of my life, it'd be Elder Scrolls.

It would be nice to build a fire, but I thought that maybe that would mostly be a way to make money? Although, it would be nice to cut a tree and push it down on an incoming enemy or innocent bystander... :whistling:

Omg if there is some sort of adoring fan in Skyrim, I'm going to make him stop in front of a tree and cut it down. Lets just hope trees will actually fall if when cutting them

Has it been confirmed that players can cut wood? As far as I know, we've only seen woodcutting in the form of NPCs doing it, and that doesn't mean players can do it, it could just be an animation that is limited to NPCs, in which case, it's just for atmosphere rather than for any actual gameplay function.

Yes, it was confirmed as an "activity" along with cooking, smithing and mining, which seems to indicate that the player will be able to do these things.

Maybe not a minigame but just chop the wood till a piece of wood detaches and when you have enough wood you could click it on inventory and choose option "make campfire" then put it down and fire it with fireball or with banging rocks together. Once the campfire is ready you could have minigames for cooking meat and alchemy.

Not confirmed but if it generate firewood we would be able to do it, yes it could just be an idle animation

never played, dunno what it is . . . i was talking about woodcutting in real life, to go outside at -10-15 degrees and chop wood for an hour is not my idea of a fun weekend up in the mountains

Mini-game? Hell no.
Real-time action? Hell yes.

Be able to do something special with the firewood? Definitely!
Make a fire, sell it, throw it at people. All good options :)

Mini games make me want to drag my face through a kilometre of glass. Can't we just combine the right materials in our inventory, Minecraft style?

Exactly.

With the new economic system, and the abilities they're adding, modders will have an excellent basis to create just GREAT RPGing mods.

Haha. been there. I hate chopping wood in real life, and I feel like it'll be boring ingame. I hate crafting, I hate gathering, so I'm glad it's optional.

I would rather use the wood for crafting bows and axe handles, and I really don't think that a minigame is necessary - just some cool animations in the crafting menu.

I expect all of the things like woodcuting and blacksmith-img to be an option for you that you can earn money on.Something similar to Fable's way but not as boring.
