Mage Robes

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:08 am

I love a good-lookin' robe on my mage. IMO, Oblivion's robes were too...plain. I want robes that have more color, design and texture to them. I think I'm just thinkin' for that feeling that I am actually a mage and get me more into playing as a mage. The robe the character is wearing in the new trailer when he's walking through the town, I thought it looked pretty decent. What are your guys' opinions on robes?

It'd be cool if your robes had runes that glowed depending on what enchantments it had. Or spells you had "equipped".

I think they'll definitely be better - someone took a screenie of the PC doing a surround fire spell in a cavern, and it looked pretty good.

yeah I saw that pic! I can't wait to walk around with my BA mage instead of my bright and cheery mage in bright blue robes

I'm want to know if that was a spell or dragon shout.

On topic: I don't really care. My casters tend to wear regular clothes, there is always more variety that way.

As long as the hoods are still separate pieces I'll be happy. I do like a mage hood/armour combo.

Yeah it seems like they're making robes and hoods look way better.

Also, have you noticed that one where the sneaky character walks inside that ruin? Thr black robe with armored parts... awesome!

Yeah same here. But only if it's a battlemage I'm playin' as.

I'd prefer better animations, Long flowing robes so I can be Gandalf/Dumbledore.

Design wise, Morrowind's robes were a bit too bright but had great diversity.

I want to be able to enchant my robe with more than one effect, I hope they do that this time with the new set up.

The one in the trailer was completely BADASS! Best robe I've seen in any game so far. But I sure hope that it's not only appearence, but they should have the enchantability of two armor pieces, cuirass and greaves. Otherwise it will just be another disadvantage for those who love robes.

I just took the Mythic Dawn robes for my Dunmer Spellshadow, lol. They looked kinda cool, and made'em look evil.

But yeah, I'm with you on the designs anyhow. It'd be cool if you could go to a Tailor with the robes you wanted (or whatever has fabric), and select designs to place on certain parts of the outfit if you wanted to. Make some Special ones that would glow with enchantment when you casted something specific.

Hopefully each robe will look different shape-wise. It was boring how robes were just the same shape and a different. We could have some extra-thick, long-flowing robes, and then some basic run-of-the-mill robes that look similar to Oblivion's.

I think Morrowind's clothing was great, with tiers from common to exquisite, with the exquisite ones capable of holding more enchantments. I feel that there should be more common robes for non-mages or apprentice mages, and more grand and magical looking ones for more powerful mages, so that an Archmage of the Mages' Guild doesn't just look like an old novice.

I'd be happy if they added robes to the light armor category. :/

But wouldn't it be weird if unenchanted robes offered any protection against weapons? Unless they have armoured robes, or stuff like the Dragon Age 2 guy is wearing on the promos.

I am always a plain clothes mage in Oblivion, more things to enchant that way. Mage robes need to be enchantable as a Shirt and Pants before I will bother with them. Function over form.

I would love something like these pictures below in Skyrim.

Would look awesome on a necromancer:

Looks like something a mage from a cold region would wear:

Could be a battlemage:

Again something like this would a great necromancer robe:

Dumbledore robes:

And ofcourse a grey and white Gandalf outfit would be sweet. Don't need picture as most people know what those look like.
