ARENA: How to beat Ice Golems?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:12 am

Hi everyone.
I have never played TES: Arena and Daggerfall before, therefore i'm not familiar with some game rules. For example, what it takes to take down Ice Golems? I've first encountered them in the Fortress of Ice. My character is an 11th level Nord Warrior and is well equipped. There were no problems in beating other monsters in the game. However Ice Golems are too tough for me. I've read in some wiki that Ice Golems are invulnerable to all weapons below elven. Is that right? And where can I find elven (or above) weapons then? (may be there is a list of locations in Arena where one can buy elven weapons?)
Thanks.

Hi PMY,

Check the site, it is very well organised:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Items

So if you want to buy right away an Ebony Katana, go to Hammerfell, city of Elinhir and the store Vintage Accouterments. Costs 13000 and improves Agility as well.

NOW, you do not have to pay 13,000,,, choose to make an offer instead of just paying this absurd price (lets say, offer 11,000, read the message, continue to offer 11,000 for two more times and then Accept. you can do this for selling too).

I believe items of fire magic should do more harm to the Ice golems... During the game you will come across a lot of magic items that you must equip (marks, bracers, rings and crystals). u can t ry them out to see what they do or go to a mages guild to identify them.

Also, notice that the armor and weapon u use may get too used and break! You can either repair them at an equipment store or buy new.

Later on, you will want to know about Artifacts, which you can quest for, provided you talk to ppl about Rumours - General....

Also, read the generic hints - some of them are a must:

- save often, use the 10 slots as well as you can (for example, one slot for the beginning of a specific quest, and 2-3 otehrs for while you are in there, anything goes wrong, you do not have to start ALL over);
- once in a while check your character sheet (press F1). Sometimes the game does not respond as it should ("bugs"), for instance, if someone sends a Curse effect on you, sleeping or healing / purifying does not always work. Your Willpower is down by, say, 2 pts, and will remain like this, temples will not be able to cure sometimes (this happens to Diseases that lower other attributes too);
- go for ebony stuff as soon as you can (best material for defence and attack)
- identify your stuff in Mages guild, and sell what you dont want in Equipment stores;

etc.....
