Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:51 am

Soo it's May 1 and yesterday was "Last April", so did anyone celebrate Valborg(swedish name)/Walpurgis Night (english name)! I did, in Lund, and it was awesome as always! :P

My mother was in town yesterday, we visited an aunt and burnt a huge straw person in her garden, we had lots of drinks... Yeah, I guess Walborga's Night was celebrated nicely.
And I'm not hungover! No, the crickets are just that loud today, that must be it. Yes... yes... ^_^

Vappu (Finnish name) was celebrated by loads of people last night over at my house. We were going to go to Kaivopuisto in Helsinki, which is sort of a Vappu tradition, but it was raining so that would have been a bit wet and icky.

... Do I really have to start cleaning now? The house is a mess. Luckily my parents are still drunk, so they don't mind. :P

If anyone want to know more about this custom that we have here in Scandinavia can read it on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night. :read:

For my self I was just relaxing and doing things I like, but not really celebrating Walpurgis Night.

I heard police filled the "drunk cells" in the afternoon this year in Lund? Sounds like a great night indeed! =D

My plans were to head down to Lund as well, but the cold put a stop to that unfortunately. Spent the night listening to the drunken shouts outside my window instead

We celebrate the coming of springtime the oldfashioned Norse and Germanic way. Not more, not less - everything else has just been added after 800 or something. Even the current name. ^_^

I could've gone to the Havis Amanda in Helsinki were it not for the bad weather. Instead we resorted to a bonfire and grilling, some Sima and donuts.

Yes, that true, I think all drunk cells were filled to the limit at about 4 PM. :P It was complete chaos, about 20,000 people partying in the park and tons of people everywhere else in the city! But that was in the afternoon, during the night I left for a beach party outside Malm? instead. Heh, I also read that only 3 people were arrested, which I think is quite few considering the magnitude of the event :P

I don't really remember much from last night, but all I can tell ya is that I was drunk... damn hangover.
Imo Vappu is one of the best days of the year. The one day when you can drink without worrying about anything.

I was not drunk. Couldn't be bothered to get alcohol, instead played Portal 2. Much more fun :P

I don't know what that is.

Originally it's something about bonfires and stuff, but this is how we do it nowadays:

So it's basically party from early morning to late night, and you can do almost whatever you want and cause total mayham without worrying about the police :P

Nope, all my friends went out drinking and as I'm really shy and don't have any liquid happiness to make me more social I stayed at home with a bucket of ice cream.
