I have to put some time into the main quest when I first start an rpg. If I don't, I lose that feeling of being a part of an important story.
I typically play through a few story line quests first, and then I move onto the fighter and mage guilds. I dont really do much exploring unless there are random quests located near a primary/guild quest. The random unimportant quests sometimes feel like chores I do to improve my character. I don't really do much of that stuff until my second playthrough.

Spend hours designing the character as I want him/her =)

Yeah... Though I'm assuming it won't take as long, since there aren't actual sliders, just I think, pre made noses, and ears, and (eyes obviously...) and mouths, and other facial features... So... yeah, it shouldn't probably take nearly as long to make a character...

Why not wait until around two weeks before the release date before upgrading you rig, like me? We have six months until Skyrim hits, I'm pretty sure there will be more and better upgrades to get between now and then.

because I did not upgrade for Skyrim, I upgraded for the Sims 3 which I have now. plus I upgraded from a GTX 8800...BIG difference!
and my 8800 lasted about 5 years (which I did get for Oblivion) so I figure the 460 should last just as long. and I figure that the upgrades between now and then for the price range I would want would not be worth waiting for anyway.
Heck, I only learned about Skyrim AFTER I upgraded my PC anyway! LOL!

I still stand by my original decision to mess with the graphics though, I love playing around with settings.

Sounds silly, But I never liked doing the main quests, or just jumping into them at the start of the game, I'm just going to explore, hunt, do a few side quests, when I'm high enough I will start the main quests.

I'll be exploring until I find the first city, where I'll be spending the next few hours just watching people living their lives (unless they're all standing in the street doing nothing lol).

Here's another vote for "explore." I'll explore a city first and talk to everyone. Visit a bookshop, if said city has one, and buy any new books that I can afford, or keep in mind certain titles to buy when I can afford them. I'll get whatever quests I can, then go out and explore and maybe complete a side quest. I'll join whatever guilds I run into, unless joining one means I can't join another. From there, there's no predicting what I'll do. It all depends on what side quests seem interesting, which factions seem interesting, and how interesting the main quest is at the start.

This "forum pervert" gimmick is not working for you.

are you dissing the pervert status?
obviously it's a joke. and hey, who won't observe the females in tricky ways? everyone will, i'm the only one who openly admits it.

This thread is making me all emotional and happy :D
I finally feel like a new ES game is on its way. Oh man, the first few hours I sit down and play this game are going to be perfect.

Anyway, I'm probably going to freak out for an hour about who I want my first character to be (this should be easier in Skyrim because of no classes, yay!) and then I'll go off and explore a bit.

I'll enjoy the environment. It's what I remember fondly about Oblivion.

Some exploring for wonder and the lay of the land, gather enough loot for a spell or two and a sharp sword, then some skill development and its off to The Mages Guild, whatever form it may take.

I'll explore the countryside/wilderness trying different forms of fighting and skill types (as there are no more classes or main skills) so I figure out what I like most and develop from there - staying out of the dungeons and quests at this time. :celebration:
