Hand of ___?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:10 pm

After you destroy Lorkhan's Heart and kill Dagoth Ur, and go into the cavern where you initially met him, Azura talks to you, you watch a small cutscene. Towards the end of the cutscene says something about the "Hand of ", and to me it sounds like she says Hand of God, but that wouldn't make sense, and it would seem like an awfully silly mistake for the devs to make. Is this indeed what she says, or am I just hearing wrong?

Also the Daedric Princes can be referred to as "gods" because they are divine beings - Azura refers to herself as god as in her title. Or something along those lines, I've never been too good with that sort of stuff.

She meant "the hand of god" as in "the hand of man", not as in "the hand of God".

I think what Q309185 meant is the Azura is probably using 'god' as just a noun meaning a divine being, rather than as the name 'God' which the western world conventionally uses it as.

Spoiler
Maybe the OP meant to ask why Azura referred to her hand as "Hand of God" instead of "Hand of Goddess", as most view her as female, which is untrue.

http://www.imperial-library.info/book_daedra/index.shtml#azura

Azura is a Daedric Prince and as such can choose how they manifest themselves, some change their appearance in the different games, like Boethiah.

I think we will throw this open the the Lore forum. :D

Azura is a God. Your God, in fact, whether you'd worship her or not. Morrowind should in fact be simply known as "The Azura Event" I think.

Alright, thanks guys, I just wanted to be sure that Bethesda didn't just mistakenly involve real life religions because of a saying that is rather common in real life, lol. I wasn't aware that Azura referred to herself as god, so.

I also viewed it as a slightly dry jab after you just finished an entire adventure dealing with the problems of one false god and destroying another. Especially after Ur's "What a fool you are, I'm a god!" spiel.

By the way, I stopped seriously roleplaying as Mehrunes Dagon years ago in case you didn't notice.
