I'm thinking about merging at least 25 .esp files into one!

Here's my BOSS load order (showing those unrecognised beard color .esp files at the bottom of the spoiler list!)

So how should I merge together (without breaking the game) these 25+ .esp's that came with the "bearded people" mod so that I can save on slot space?

And, also, anyone even know what the maximum number of .esm's and .esp's are that Oblivion allows for before reaching the limit to where the game starts to act up from having too many .esp's/.esm's?

WIth any luck, TESGecko should do the trick. Otherwise, you could try your hand at the CS.

But... have you even rebuilt the Bashed Patch, properly? If you have Wrye Bash installed, there's no sane reason not to, IMO. So yeah, you might find you can merge them that way, or import and deactivate - doesn't matter which.

Just try one thing first - click on the Mod Checker icon in the status bar of Wrye Bash, and see what it says. Oh, and what version of Wrye Bash are you using, and how up to date is your BOSS masterlist? Also, if you get (or already have) the latest masterlist, and some mods are still unordered, you could always mention them in the curent BOSS thread, and before long, they'll be added to the masterlist.

edit: The maximum is 255, including Oblivion's base file itself. In hex, that's FF.

Well if the esp have to be in a certain order then you may have to merge the mods with a certain priority for each esp.

Read more about http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/898653-a-guide-to-merging-with-tesivgecko/ and http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=1068317.

I just went and downloaded TES4Gecko, and no, I don't have the TES:IV Construction Set as I have no real need for the CS utility as I don't do any modding at all!

My WryeBash should be version 275, which is the version I'm currently using, so I don't know how badly out of date I am (as I don't know how badly out of date my PC is)! And I don't know what you mean by how up to date my BOSS masterlist is, as my BOSS always keeps my mods in the proper load order! And yes, I've showed the makers of BOSS the unlisted mod files that BOSS showed me!

You can also use it to fix simple messes, "merge" in a manner of speaking, and a number of other things. I'm very new to it myself, but already I'm aware that the possibilities are staggering.

Wrye Bash 2.87 is the current version.

Again, have you rebuilt your Bashed Patch, importing and merging as WB/BOSS suggest, and did you see what the Mod Checker utility in Wrye Bash had to say about your mods?

Well guys, I just gave TES4Gecko a try, and according to what it told me, none of my files are even mergable (not even those beard files, which I only use for certain characters in my Machinima, anyways!), so that leaves me with one choice! Deleting the .esp files for beards that I don't even need from my Data folder and running BOSS and (just in case) TES4Lodgen all over again! Well, TES4Gecko was right on the ticket! Not one of my mods is mergable, so I won't even mess with the idea!

And since the guy above me just said a new 2.87 version of WryeBash is out, maybe I shall download it! (It's just that wished the version 2.87 was a self installer rether than an archived version that requires a very complicated install! That's why I still have the easy to install earlier version!)

Huh? what message did gecko give you? Was it because they all had exact records.

And really any time you add, remove, alter an esp or move one in your load order that should be followed by a new bashed patch and teslodgen run.

each and every time your load order changes in anyway.

Surprised those beard mods are not mergable in bashed patch.

I already PM'd the author who uploaded the "Bearded Races" mod and asked him why the .esp's were not mergable! He has yet to reply back to me on TesNexus! So it looks like I'll have to do as the mod recommends, and just delete the .esp's I'm most likely to not use in the mod and only keep the .esp's in my data folder for the ones I will be actually using! Then run the recommended utilities again to get things straight just in case!

On Tesnexus there is the most recent Masterlist for BOSS. This is updated regularly. Make sure you download the masterlist and replace your old one with it. The old one is located in the data folder.

Wait.. Not mergable in gecko? Are you sure you are doing it right because I have never run into that problem when merging any mods.

With an old masterlist they might not be getting the correct tags, or they might not be getting tagged at all.

In that case you have to do it manually.
