This means that this esp has been tagged with Deactivate, so it should be deactivated and imported into the bashed patch.


Another posibility is the mod shares a timestamp with another mod, and both mods are active. Just hover your cursor over the mod in question and the status bar at the bottom should update with more info.

What does darker red and light red highlighting of an esp or esm file in Wrye Bash signify? I just read the wrye bash homepage in the hopes of finding an explanation, but didn't notice one. Note that the text is still black font color, there is just a horizontal light or darker red line through all the entire row (file, load order, R, G, etc) If it signifies something that needs fixing , what repair or modification do I likely need to make?

In WryeBash, pressing the blue icon with the question mark in it directs me to wryebash homepage, which is where I first looked for an explanation of the highlighting.

OK, I just now noticed the message in the status bar below that explains the meaning of the highlighting. D'oh.

The following have dark red lines, meaning that they have the same load order as another mod:

I have version 285 of Wrye Bash installed. In order to install version 287, do I just need to copy the Data and Mopy folders into my Oblivion directory, and allow them overwrite everything?

Still stuck - and I can't even close it - did it miss the oblivion path ?
I was adding files to the installers tab - Music mods - and at some point I renamed a 7z that was open - so it refused to rename it - I don't know if this caused the errors. Very soon after this I noticed the error anyway.

Do I need to force close it ? - I will probably lose all the info on the installers.dat and this is not desirable in this case - had installed a bunch of sound mods.

Bash 287 and win7 home premium (duh) here

EDIT : yay :goodjob: :mohawk: :celebration:
I realized it could not update the details - I had changed the details "Notes" "Comments" for a file and I remembered I had just renamed this file - so probably it was renamed in the installers tab but not in the folder - rClick on this file changed its name back to the original one and the error gone - probably you should correct this one maybe

Did BOSS produce a log ?
All of your mods remained red - or only the ghosted ones ?

Read this, which seems to address the issue:

Red:

? A file that shares a modification date/time with another file – with both files being activated. This should definitely be corrected! Use details view to change the modification date of one of the files by a second or more.


I enabled details view but don't see any information that seems a clear indicator of modification date.

For example, some detail text from the Better Citiies Resources.esm:

utumno, it looks like one of the dat files is corrupt. I'd recommend backing them up, force closing Bash, and then reopening Bash. See the Readme for locations. Depending on what went wrong, Bash 'might' be able to auto-recover.

If it still doesn't work, then close Bash again, and restore the bak files from the backups. They're the last known good configuration. Just copy the *.bak files back where you got them from, and remove the .bak suffix.

If that doesn't work, try restoring the backups one dat file at a time until you've isolated the problem. You'll lose some settings, but at least not all of them.

Right click the mod, highlight File, scroll down that list to Redate, and insert a new date and time. (MM/DD/YYYY 00:00:00 AM, Bash is particular about the formatting.)

Yes, I do have Lock times checked. I just ran BOSS from within WryeBash.

Report below.

Only a sixmods (Better Cities Resources.esm, Armamentarium.esm, All Natural Base.esm, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp, Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses.esp, CombatFPSOptimizer,esp) have red highlighting, and two (DLCShiveringIsles.esp and All Natural Combat FPS Optimizer Updated PAtch.esp) have pink. I don't see BOSS warnings for them in my BOSS log. There are no unrecongnized mod files in my BOSS log.

One odd thing I've noticed in Wrye Bash is that when I right click Bashed Patch and choose Read me, the active mod list it generates seems somewhat incomplete. I'm appending the Wrye Bash active mod list to my BOSS report.

When I open Wrye Bash, I do get the message "modified dates have been reset for the following mods: (with a list below)"

utumno, it looks like one of the dat files is corrupt. I'd recommend backing them up, force closing Bash, and then reopening Bash. See the Readme for locations. Depending on what went wrong, Bash 'might' be able to auto-recover.

If it still doesn't work, then close Bash again, and restore the bak files from the backups. They're the last known good configuration. Just copy the *.bak files back where you got them from, and remove the .bak suffix.

If that doesn't work, try restoring the backups one dat file at a time until you've isolated the problem. You'll lose some settings, but at least not all of them.

None of it happily - check my post above.
A possible bug - rename foo.7z to bar.7z while foo.7z bar is open in 7z - windows do not allow it and python throws an exception - still the file is renamed to bar.7z in the installers tab but not in windows of course - so then bash does not find it. Maybe triggered when one changes details (Comments in my case) in the non existent bar.7z.
Anyway renaming back to foo.7z saved my day.

EDIT 2 : After this BAIN did not refresh the installers anymore - restarted and all seems fine now - and the install order was saved correctly

@Postpeppergomez : no no details - rightclick on the mods > file > redate
still if BOSS does not do it you have lock times enabled or/and ghosts - follow what I said in previous post

EDIT : a ha --> DISABLE lock times - read the html lol

Right click the mod, highlight File, scroll down that list to Redate, and insert a new date and time. (MM/DD/YYYY 00:00:00 AM, Bash is particular about the formatting.)

You have to disable Lock Times if you are using BOSS on your load order. Lock Times means that Wrye will keep resetting the mod date.

Are there any sites that have compiled a list of BCF's for the larger or at least more common mods? I'm doing a BAIN-only reinstall, and that would be majorly helpful...
