A few short questions about LAME

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:28 pm

What a great mod! But there are couple of things about it that I don't quite get....

1) There are a couple three spell effects that appear to be unavailable in the spell maker, even though I possess the relevant spells and can cast them. One is charm, another is drain health. I can buy both effects from spell vendors, but can't make spells with them, since they simply don't appear in the list of available effects. Is that a function of LAME, and if so, is there any workaround? I tried using the console to acquire vanilla spells but as long as I have the mod the loaded the spell id is re-associated to a new LAME spell.

2) What on God's Green Earth does a Twinkle do?

I believe LAME removed the charm and drain spellmaking blocks to prevent certain game-breaking exploits.

As for twinkle... no earthly idea.

Bummer. And I haven't even played vanilla long enough to use the exploits!

Doesn't twinkle summon a will o the wisp that follows you around and acts like a light source?

I'm pretty sure it does and uses on of Vacuity's wisps to do so.

Twinkle summons some sort of will o the wisp thing, but it's not classified as a conjuration spell, rather as a mysticism. There's a similar spell called Teddy Bear, which summons a tiny bear; when you activate it, it grants you a rally buff of 100 pts. There's also Benevolent Ancestor, which summons a ghost who follow you around and replenishes your health and mana when you activate him. But if you activate your Twinkle ( ie, click on it), all it seems to do is make a weird noise.

Oh, and while it's true that the Twinkle follows you around, it's not much of a light source.

I love my Twinkle- he's immune to magic, so my spellcasting characters never have to worry about friendly fire, and enemies always seem to want to get up in his "face"/etheric sparkly bits/whatever, so he's distracting. And if I activate him in sneak mode, he changes the radius of his light, and I can then feel all mage-y and well-lit without a torch.

I stand corrected. He does actually give out a certain radiance. Or she, as the case may be.

What's up with the wind effect? It sends my character flying like a rag doll, and and causes my opponent to become invisible for some reason.
