Better Loot

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:14 am

I have always loved the elder scrolls series for the freedom it allows but found the loot pretty boring, even the unique stuff. I think that questing, killing, and exploring would be much more rewarding and interesting if there was greater variety in loot, esp weapons and armor. Different styles, attributes, and abilities for loot would be awesome. Not every steel sword has to look the same and have the exact same statistics. Same with armor or jewerly or whatever.

What do you think?

I love this idea. I always wished that items in the game were procedurally generated from a rough template.

Well what I mean is that I would love to find two different silver daggers in two different places and have them be different quality.

Perhaps the first one I find is worth 40 gold and has a strength of 10, while the second one is worth 48 gold and has a strength of 11. That would be incredibly cool.

The best justification for this is that I often love to carry particular weapons because of how they look and not because of how strong they are. If I could find a rare silver dagger out there that does almost as much damage as a daedric... well. That would just be gamegasmic.

I just feel like I use like 3 or 4 weapons total in the game as it progresses. Same with armor. Pretty weak for an RPG. Loot's one of the best parts of an RPG.
