What Engine Does Skyrim Use?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:18 pm

Ok, so the March issue of GI came in for me and the fearured game was battlefeild 3. All I can say is that even though I HATE shooter games and EA alike, this game looks amazing interms of the technology. Tgey devekoped a new engine to handle all this sht amd its called frostbit 2, all I can say is that this game and engine are the only thing that IMO seems to touch skyrim (interms of the engine) so my point is, what engine os skyrim using again cause I can't find it in the GI issue of Febuary, although I'm just to lazy. So couldyou guys enlighten me?

Creation Engine.

It's a extremely modified and updated Gamebyro Engine that BGS more or less completely changed.

lol, you can google can you not?

yes its a gutted version of gamebryo dubbed creation. creation is probably one of the strongest open world engines around atm given that gamebryo kinda set the bar before [other than rockstar].the best part about it is that we don't know crap about it other than the AI and the graphics, who knows how good the physics are given that we have only a little bit of info to go off of. apparently dragons make craters when they die :celebration:

Ahem:

Gamebryo is a renderer, not an engine. It has been replaced, per Todd Howard and many others. Therefore, Skyrim may derive a lot of tech from Oblivion, but Gamebryo was never more to the engine than a rendering layer (although it did dictate the .nif format)
