PyFFI and meshes.

Hi, how are you.

After coming back to Oblivion, I built up my modded game and I am actually playing. Sometimes I have CTDs, and I must admit my game is not the stablest of all. It's true, however, that one can achieve a stable game even with a complex and heavy mod list. I've read a lot of threads of more experienced people and I know this is not a myth. I'm always trying to understand better and further the tons of information about correct installing, cleaning, ordering, pyffiing... and step by step, I achieve some little advances. My last one was the comprehension and use of BAIN. Well, I really love it.

I once tried to understand the cleaning of dirty edits in mods, but I did not dare to clean a single one. Wild edits, dirty edits, how could I know how to distinguish them? In addition, I'm spanish, so I find these readings a bit dense sometimes, and others I end wondering if I had understood everything.

Ok, now I'm trying to learn how and what to PyFFI. I read the information from http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/optimization/pyffi and from http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1014947-pyffi-optimized-increased-performance-without-adding-more-stuff/, and I have reached a point where I think I can give it a try. I have, however, some doubts.

First: when we talk about avoiding .egm extensions, do we mean to avoid the file with the .egm extension or that file AND the one named like it but with a .nif extension?

Second: from the PYFFI Optimized thread, I followed this guidelines:

Recommended Folders (and Files) to Avoid:1. Characters>>> PyFFI can have trouble with Transparencies ~Arthmoor2. Creatures3. Effects4. Files with EGMs (i.e., helmets and head meshes)5. FX (i.e., "meshes\dungeons\misc\fx")6. Landscape - Waterfalls>>> PyFFI can have trouble with Transparencies ~Arthmoor7. Triggers8. Arthmoor's other specific avoids:>>> Landscape waterfall meshes, Texians Animated River meshes---->>> PyFFI sometimes butchers the transparency information>>> Hair meshesIffy? PyFFI Avoids:1. Armors>>> Note: You may also want to avoid armors, especially when using replacers.>>> WATCH OUT! for EGMs2. Weapons

And from there, I thought in a procedure to avoid all those files I did not want to pyffi. It's like this:

1. I copy the entire Meshes folder to another path.2. I use the windows search function to search some patterns.2b. Examples: waterfall, fx, hair, river... I do not touch .egms because I do not know what do I have to delete or avoid, besides I've read that PYFFI now automatically avoids them.3. I delete all files I think that should not be pyffied.4. I pyffi the rest.

Is that a valid approach? I guess I'm missing something for sure.

Well, any help would be apprectiated.
