What program is overriding my in-game settings?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:59 pm

When I opened the options page in the game to adjust my video and audio settings, I noticed they were set at values I didn't enter. When I adjusted them and closed the options menu, I noticed that no changes occurred. I opened the options page and noticed they were back at the setting they had been at earlier. I have Streamline running, as well as Oblivion Stutter Remover. Any chance either of these applications are overriding my settings? I'd like to grant control back to the in-game settings in Oblivion. I am also running CombatFPS. Any other applicaitons that override in-game settings?

Streamline can change video setting on-the-fly;it trades graphic quality with performance. However, I have no idea about audio setting.

OK, thankks. Now I need to find out how to set the streamline settings in game. I hope there's a more intuituve way than altering the ini file. Do you know if there's a streamline setting that allows me to make my settings via the in-game settings and not have Streamline override/reject them?

Read the readme. One of Streamline's features is that it changes in-game graphics settings on the fly to save you performance hits. The readme explains how to turn this feature off if you want.

Q: What feature of Streamline did you want when you decided to install it?

That feature is, mainly, streamsmooth. If you deactivate it then your ingame settings will remain like you set them.

Regarding Streamline:
On my last install, every time I edited the ini, the changes didn't get applied. I had to deactivate Streamline, make a clean save, then activate it again. I'm not sure if this a bug or my setup was bad or if this was intended and I missed it in the readme.

Also, I believe weather mods can override certain outdoor video settings.

You have to load the streamline ini settings in the game, ctrl-home > special actions > initialize with INI values
