Installing Morrowind on an external hard drive

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:09 am

Hello,

My hard drive has a rather limited capacity, which is definitely going to be a problem once I get around to installing mods again. Therefore, I was wondering: is it possible to install Morrowind on an external hard drive and play it as well as if you had installed it on the actual computer?

I thought it was a great idea so I tested it today.
Copied one of my mw installs from an internal hd over to an usb-hd and it worked just fine, after I fixed some paths though.
Not as much for mw it self but for wrye mash and python.

To be more safe than sorry I re-run mashed list and mge, dunno if that is mandatory.

Thank you for trying it out, I am glad to hear that it worked. What paths did you have to fix?

had to change the path from the copied from-location to the new one for mash (my self had changed the path of python from last time I played so had to fix that but that is unrelated to this).
with other words "where to start",got norwegian windows so I could word it wrong here, and mge 3.8 showed the old path as well, easy to spot,it is right there in the menu′s.

btw my usb-hd is connected almost all the time so its station letter is pretty much the same for what it is worth.

I see, thanks. Oh, and I use Norwegian Windows as well, so I don't think I'll have much of a problem finding what you were referring to.
