Is the player character Shor?

The theory has been put forth that the CoC, Nerevarine and past heroes somehow attained CHIM and this explains why they can never truly die (reset) and somehow are able to assemble legendary Artifacts to ascend to levels of power beyond any other mortal (through quests).

I have another hypotheses, one just as likely. Perhaps these people are Avatars of Shor himself, or at least a member of the Aedric Pantheon. This would explain why they appear suddenly, from uncertain parents with higher than average skills, and later mysteriously and utterly disappear from the world without concrete explanation. And isn't it more than just a coincidence that they always involve themselves in some deed which benefits the continued existence of Mundus, and fight against forces who would misuse the powers and artifacts of Lorkhan?

I'd say yes and no. I say no because of the mere fact that there isn't really anything to support that, especially in the Nerevarine's case because of the simple fact that he IS the Nerevarine. I'd say yes because they're an embodiment of the idea of CHIM: you can basically do whatever you choose. You can even choose not to do what you are destined to do, i.e. you can completely stray away from the main quest with no penalty. And Lorkhan is the "creator" of CHIM.

Not necessarily...you have the power to choose, as did Lorkhan, whether to embrace a certain destiny. Some players became the Nerevarine...I never choose that option personally. It's boring and hideous to me. It's what the game expects me to do. To that, I thumb my nose and chant the incantation "neener neener neener", an utterance even older and more powerful than "I".

The COC is supposed to be an incarnation of Pelinal, so this would factually make the COC an avatar of Shor to.

Its certainly a possibility, so is the CHIM thing, or both can be false. Believe what you want to, whatever jives with you man.

CoC is no reincarnation. He is a glorified messanger boy to a spoiled empoerers brat.

The CoC is not, but the Divine Crusader may be. In fact, s/he would be the incarnate of the incarnate of Shor; the Shezarrine-ine  (bad joke)

But then he becomes the Madgod, so...???

That whole episode is dubious, and there's already a Sheog thread, so let us not even walk that way :bolt:

I'd always believe they're more chosen onces (well that's how I see it and play it..) They are the champions (and thus in some way an avatar) of the gods (Nerevarine = Azura, CoC = THe Nine (or Ten)) ...and I wanted to say something else but I've forgotten that XD.... well if I remember it again I'll let you know ;) ...
