Morrowind GOTY Problems

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:03 pm

Hey guys, jsut signed up to say that I've been having quite a few problems with Morrowind GOTY Edition.
I'm Windows 7, btw. So, pretty much, bought the game, loaded it in, decided not to download trib+blood just yet, so I played a bit of Morro, then went back to install the others. I installed them in order of Tribunal, then Bloodmoon. I get on the game, and as it started to load Tribunal and Bloodmoon there was this error saying something about chunk size, and running executable file. I pressed yes six times, then my game crashed.

I then searched around a fair bit, and I decided to try reinstalling. So, I opened up the installer, reinstalled Morrowind, and then it said Tribunal and Bloodmoon were both already installed. Don't know if thats supposed to happen. I then opened the game, and played for a bit, only realising that as I tried to sleep I had an error saying Temp file remains. Continue running executable?

So, I look around again, find something saying run as admin. So I right click it, press run as admin, the game opens, does the chunk size error, then crashes. I reopen the game normally, it works fine cept' for the temp file. I tried moving the file to documents, and opened it there. It did the chunk size error. This would all be fine, considering I don't quicksave, but it's not letting me level up. And, I can't play the expansions. Really hope someone can help.

It sounds like you used the default install path. It's almost a necessity to install it in a non Program files (86) directory. You'll have to delete or change the path with regedit, unfortunately, in order to reinstall. There's a thread on this forum with more details; it's a common problem.

Here's one:

Ah. I see. Well, the good thing is I may have found one of the problems. Hopefully. When I uninstalled Morrowind, the expansions are both still there, in the Data Files Folder. Oh, also, I'm finding it hard to find what that guy inthe website is talking about. Something to do with deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

I think I know what your problem is and I've a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1134570-morrowind-options-and-play-wont-work/page__view__findpost__p__16616928 for that kind of registry issue. :)

Btw...welcome to the forum.

Haha, thanks leonardo. I managed to fix it. Lot simpler than I expected. Tribunal and Bloodmoon weren't uninstalling properly so I fixed that. Took away both errors. Also, thanks for the help guys, muchly appreciated.
