I just bought Morrowind from Steam and I can't get it to work. I get the error : "music error: can not play file. Data Files/Music/Special/morrowindtitle.mp3" Is there any solution? I have Windows 7 and I was wondering if this is the problem. If you need more system spec, please ask.

I've seen that before. Removing or replacing (often by reinstalling) can fix it, but it can be caused by MW not liking the MP3 or how the format is handled on your system, or the file being corrupt. I've seen it on both XP and 7, so I don't think that alone is the issue.

This error is usually caused by one of two things:
Your sound card needs updating. This software is usually available for free download on the manufacturer's website.

Or, like Peachy suggested, you need to make sure that your computer uses Windows Media as the default player for mp3 files.
Open Windows media player, find the Options->File Types. Make sure mp3 audio has a check mark. Apply changes.

I set Windows Media player as the default, which it has been default since I bought my computer so I'm going to uninstall and reinstall it.

I can think of two things you might try.

- Have you installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP?
- Have update Windows Media Player to the latest version?

If not you're probably need to do just that.

Did you try updating the drivers for your sound card?
The manufacture will have free updates on their site. Or you can open your Control Panel->System->Device Manager, then highlight your sound device and look for the 'Update Driver' button at the top of the window.
