Multiplayer Battles

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:25 pm

I was thinking it would be nice if there were randomized, arena style battles, with the user being able to see their win-loss record. This wouldn't take that long to implement considering there will probably be an arena. The battles would have options such as whether only generic equipment or generic spells are available. This probably isn't likely to happen, but it would be nice. What do you think? Do you agree this would be a nice feature to have in the TES series?

There's an official MP thread, this one will be locked.

Why? I didn't read anything in the rules regarding this..

Edit: To the second poster; my idea is specific and not general like other Multiplayer threads..

All the posts there are about co-op and other irrelevant, extremely unlikely to happen ideas

Even original ideas, for some reason they're bent on anything multiplayer being in that thread.

A thread pretty much exactly like this already exists.

Also, do you have to color all of your posts? It just makes them harder to read. And all of your polls are just "do you agree with me?" I usually don't agree with your ideas but I agree with the initial concept. It's a poll that's asking the wrong question.

Here, though, I just disagree with all of it.

All multiplayer discussion is restricted to one thread... doesn't matter if its specific or not.

I'd refer you to my responses in the Official MP thread about the viability of PvP in an Elder Scrolls Game.

Sorry, I changed the poll

Two Worlds (the first one) already did this kind of arena set up, and it completely flopped. I understand your rational for having such a system, but it really adds nothing to the game. TES is just way too complex and in-depth to try and put a simplistic and generic system in to do Skyrim justice. It's just better that BGS leaves this kind of content out all together.

It did? Why?

Well to be quite honest, it was a arena system for the sake of arena. It was more or less a stripped down version of what MMORPGs have. It wasn't fun. The battles were predictable and boring. Overall, it just did nothing for the game and was a waste of time and resources. If BGS were to ever do any sort of system like this, it would have to somehow be engrossed in the world of TES. The battles would have to be lively and meaningful. Balancing would also be difficult as class customization can vary and be so diverse in TES. Either way, this kind of work and effort to make a meaningful experience would ultimately take away from what makes TES games so great. The single player experience of doing what we want to do.

Not to mention having multiplayer at all in a moddable game (this would obviously only affect PC) is a biatch. Then everyone has to have all the mod's other people do or they would get load errors and stuff would be messed up. It would be so much work and much easier to just focus on making single player great.
