The Music...

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 2:55 am

i voted let there be music but i want the option to shut it down or off. i personally wont listen to much of the music except for maybe turned really down that way i still get the mood the designers intended for the game. i prefer it that way because i play assassin characters. my ears are my greatest asset because i can hear where people are as they walk around.

If you don't like it, turn it off in options.

The music is absolutely one of my favorite things about the game. I downloaded the soundtrack to my iTunes and listen to it quite often. I would, without a doubt, be VERY disappointed if the music didn't play a key part in Skyrim.

I haven't played Morrowind in years so I'm not sure how the music played out in that game but in oblivion the music in the game kind of annoyed me. Although I know it changed when my character was being hunted which helped me defeat all animals and foes it still annoyed me running through the woods hearing the same melody play over and over again instead of hundreds of other things I could be hearing in the woods... What I'd like to hear is the sound of the wind blowing through trees and such, animals calling, water flowing, some ones feet hitting the ground as they are running up to attack me and so forth...ambient ambient ambient....save the music for the opening, ending, pubs, musicians in the street and key moments in the game.

pause the game.... on the menu go to options...... go to the audio section.... turn the music down...... problem solved.

Mute Jeremy's Soule's music?

I oughta slap you.

His music adds to the ambiance, it's not intrusive in anyway.

I would hate to play with no music... So to fix your problem with only the 2 songs with Oblivion.... How about you add lots of songs in.... like in cave areas, theirs like a darkish song.... In a smowy area you hear a low and slow song, the wind you'll hear while it snows will make up for the rest of the song...

Yes it is. You may not think so, but a 'no' is not an argument.

I am probably in the minority here but I cant say I am all that fond of Jeremy Soule's work. I know there are a lot of fans of his work however I just dont see what everyone what everyone is going on about, to me his music just seems to lack emotion for lack of a better word. Even the title track doesnt do anything for me, sure its big and pompous but there is just no substance or emotion behind it. Of course as I said I am probably in the minority here but I wouldnt mind seeing Skyrim go in a different direction in regards to music.

Definitely nothing special. Jeremy Soule is nowhere near the likes of Mark Morgan(first two fallouts) or Pawel Blaszczak(Witcher)
Actually I hated oblivion's ambient music.

if you dont want music you can always turn it off, i did that because i dodnt like the music telling me if someone is attacking me . . . but its idiotic not to have music by default

First thing I'm doing is deleting all the music from the folders and adding in 80s speed metal.

Vikings like metal, right?

Oblivion was almost culturally dead. Ambient music would go a long way towards breathing some life into cities. Assassin's Creed did this sort of thing very well. Besides, what's a mead hall without drinking songs?
