I used to be able to run Morrowind very easily with mods but now it will not work well, even with no mods.

Problems started when I tried to install the Mafia 2 demo and where it would CTD before the game even began. Then the same thing would happen with Bioshock 2 (crashes a little while after clicking new game) and Oblivion (a few seconds after the race menu). I recently decided to reinstall Morrowind because I was tired of this nonsense

Let me explain what typically happens with Morrowind (no mods, though it seems to make little difference).

On start-up, I notice the tiny icons and active windows in the user bar start flickering and my cursor isn't the ingame cursor but I can fix this by alt-tab. I run into the following issues:

Vanilla:
- runs until I try to exit the ship, where it then freezes

Alternate start mod:
-often crashes when finishing the character creator
-one time it actually worked and I started out in Balmora's Mages Guild but when I went outside, I saw TONS of yellow polygons and it promptly crashed shortly after


At the moment, the only game working on my computer right now is Daggerfall :shakehead:
Help would be very much appreciated.

Edit: Now Modern Warfare 2 MP is messed up and freezes on the main page. grrr

Judging by the thread title, you are also getting BSoDs... If that's true and the game were working and would check your RAM. Daggerfall may be working because it uses far less memory. It also could be a failing graphics card and/or power supply.

Check the RAM by downloading memtest86+ and making a bootable disc, link: http://www.memtest.org

Okay, its definitely something with the computer itself and not the game. I tried playing a LOTR mod for Medieval 2: Total War and it worked until I started loading an old save. The save completed but while the ingame music during gameplay started to play, the game's visuals froze when the loading bar was full.

Test (and replace if needed) for RAM before it does permanent damage to your system.
