I need to know for a story that I'm writing....

The God of Worms, Mannimarco.

Not the Altmer with the weird accent in Oblivion.

He means the Revenant Moon, the ascended divinity that is now orbiting Arkay. The King of Worms you saw was a mortal fragment....or decoy, or something. I don't know. The bottom line is that the Jills of Akatosh had repaired the damage of the Warp of the West, and tried reversing Mannimarco's apotheosis......and apparently did a half-assed job at it.

Anyway, I'd like to also add that some necromancers may also worship Molag Bal or Clavicus Vile.

But not EVER necromancer is some goth, puppy kicking [censored] face who is evil for the sake of evil. A lot of them are, in reality, just normal mages who study anatomy and the control of dead bodies. And like with all mages, there are some groups who do illegal things, like kill people or conduct dangerous and twisted experiments on innocent people.

Plus, the I doubt the necromancers actively worship Mannimarco like a 9-divine, but see him as the pinnacle of necromacy. You see, while Mannimarco is often depicted as you typical evil villain in literature and OB, he's actually pretty alright, abet with a twisted sense of humor and amoral attitude one would find in the Telvanni. In Daggerfall, he did send a zombie after you, but he stitched a note on it should you have defeated it as a joke. His main purpose in life was to remove the lies of a previous age about Arkay, and stop Arkay for interfering, because he's useless.

Except that Necromancy itself is illegal in Cyrodiil, as evidenced by a conversation with a certain Alchemist in Skingrad. Even without the act itself, you have to figure that (almost) every Necromancer is doing something illegal. Where do they get their corpses? Either they steal them from graves (which, as shown in Thoronir's quest, is punishable by death), they kill someone (obviously illegal), or they somehow stumble across enough corpses of unfortunate adventurers to constitute meaningful research or the practice of the magic itself.

Bull honky. The imperial government regularly donates corpses of bandits to necromancers. Serves two purposes for the empire: disposes bodies of people they don't want to deal with, and can serve as a deterrant (you see that walking abomination there, bandits? Yeah, that's what you'll end up if you pull that crap). Plus, IT'S ONLY ILLEGAL IN THE MAGES GUILD! Outside the guild, they can do what they want, except for breaking county and imperial laws, WHICH DOESN'T PLACE NECROMANCY AS BEING ILLEGAL.

I also love making gross generalizations of things I don't fully understand!

Like I said earlier, bodies of bandits are donated to necromancers at a pretty sustainable pace. But hey, if you want more, they can travel to a near-by cave and dispose of some bandits. Or, they could, you know, pay people legally for bodies. Grandpa is sick, can't afford to bury him? Necromancer in search of corpses, willing to pay? You got yourself a win-win. Family doesn't have to bury grandpa, and the necromancers gets his body. And hey, what's wrong with cleaning up caves of dead adventurers? If they have been lying around there for some time, obviously no one give a rats butt about them. Necromancers make great clean-up crews!

Grave stealing is obviously illegal, and should remain as such, along with murder.

Woah dude, not sure who pissed in your wheaties, but I double checked the conversation with Falanu Hlaalu, and I misread, she was talking about necrophilia, not necromancy. Also, where

Again, necessary? Purely out of curiosity, where are there references of the Imperial government donating corpses to necromancers?

Closed for flaming. If you can't discuss the subject decently and in order, keep silence until such time as you can.
