- I am assuming that when the Champion of Cyrodiil was offered a rank among the Blades, it is canonical that the Champion joined.
- If I have understood it correctly, Alduin and Akatosh are the same being.
Remember when Martin shattered the Amulet of Kings? What if a small fragment remained, one which (though never seen) the Champion of Cyrodiil in Oblivion obtained? Let's asume that happened. Moving into the future, we have Esbern, the last remaining Blade who also happens to be the mentor of the player character in Skyrim (or so it is said). What if Esbern is the grandson (or great grandson) of the Champion of Cyrodiil? (Also, if he is, that is how he can be a Blade, if the Champion of Cyrodiil trained his/her son/daughter and that they did the same to their children and so on until Esbern came along.) The speculative fragment of the Amulet of Kings now comes into play, by being passed down from the Champion of Cyrodiil to his/her son/daughter and so on, until it came to Esbern. (The reason for training their children would be to protect this fragment from falling into the wrong hands.)
Seeing as how the Champion of Cyrodiil isn't dragonborn (since you cannot equip the Amulet of Kings in Oblivion), it can be assumed that Esbern aren't dragonborn either. But if he happens to have a small fragment of the Amulet of Kings, Esbern could give it to the player character in Skyrim (who is said to be dragonborn). How the Amulet of Kings could have an effect on Alduin is not something I know, but seeing as how Martin became a part of (presumably) Akatosh (who also is Alduin?), thus this last and little fragment of the Amulet of Kings is some sort of threat to Alduin (who is Akatosh?).
Sounds probable? Unreasonable? Bash away.
