Realistic, improved hardcoe mode, yay or nay

Heres my idea:

-Sleep at least once a day for 8 hours to get a double as fast leveling and/or damage bonus
-If you go without sleep for 8 days, you die
-Eat everday, at least 1 pound's worth (presuming food is still almost always .1 pound each) for a fatigue bonus
-Eat once a week to avoid death
-Drink water/liquids everyday to avoid death
-Drink liquids 4 times a day for a magika bonus
-If health goes under 50% at anytime, you need healing potions and cannot wait or sleep to regain health
-Stop and wheeze if fatigue = 0
-Armor health goes down much faster

Any thing else?

Health goes down if you're caught in a blizzard, kinda like being caught in the sun as a vampire.

I'm not sure about the 50% health thing and don't like receibing bonuses.

compared to this, i'd prefer a rehash of Fallout new Vegas's hardcoe.

I rather not have a hardcoe mode, just realism options to choose.

If Skyrim implements a survival mode, it should be relatively simple to create a timescale mod that adjusts the values according to the challenge level people want.

New Vegas hardcoe mode wouldn't be anywhere near as fun without Harder hardcoe Rates mod + Expensive Wasteland mod.

I'd like it if for most weapons, heavy damage can only be dealt once a specific area of armor was broken enough for the weapon to get through. Doubt we'll see that this gen though. DMM armor and bodies would be pretty sweet too, albeit a bit gory.

This. I wouldn't mind turning on options for eating, drinking, sleeping, and weather effects - but I'd really rather not have to take monsters with 2x damage and HP as part of the bargain.

I'm for it.
I actually posted that in the "Ask Todd Howard" thing on gameinformer. I asked if there was going to be a hardcoe mode.
I do NOT necessarily like the potions things, I think if you're hurt, you need to get patched up... or be beast at restoration and *know what to heal.
I agree with the 'rehashed' version of New Vegas's system with some improvements and additions... such as (I believe it was mentioned earlier) HYPOTHERMIA? maybe not the losing health points over it, but like a negative effect?
I like the idea of having a realistic mode or options to enable it.

Sounds like easy mode more than hardcoe mode.

I like somethings, and I don't really dislike any of them, but none of these are really things that I REALLY want...

Either way, I don't think Skyrim will have hardcoe mode from the sound of it though, at least not in the same way as in New Vegas, and besides, New Vegas wasn't really their game...

Eh.. not too crazy about eating and drinking in RPG's. Mostly i feel this is a nuisance. If you want to make it optional, that is fine. For a "hardcoe" mode, I would expect something like more difficult monsters (higher health, more damage) rather than eating/drinking.

It can be a nuisance, or it can be an interesting challenge to go along with the combat. If you have ever played Betrayal at Antara, you generally had to prepare before going into the wilderness with rations, repair supplies, and for some things, ammo. Sure, running out of something important at a critical juncture stank, but it encouraged you to not do that. Managing your inventory was part of the game.

That said, it needs to be well done - such that it feels like an integral part of the experience, not just an extra hassle. References to food and drink, as well as starvation and thirst, should be woven tightly into the dialog.

I will further admit that the effect is somewhat lost in a single player game. When you have to deal with a party, this becomes a more interesting dynamic. That said, I can see real role playing value in being forced to periodically sleep, eat, and drink. If anything, being forced to setup camp or stop at a tavern can be used as a guise to introduce quests.

I understand a lot of people would hate the idea of implementing a "hardcoe mode" or what-have-you... But I'm an advocate of "More options, the better." It's the same thing with fast travel (reversed though), if you don't want it, don't use it. If you don't want hardcoe, then don't play it. Play the game on however you want, believe me; No one *really cares how *you play *your game. Do what makes you happy with your gaming experience.
But don't cut it out of the game for all of us who would massively enjoy it. :)

The reason it often just because an annoyance, is when you're required to do something that isn't difficult to do.
Take cliff racers, they're easy to kill on any decent level, but they're fast so you can't just outrun them. So you end up with a bunch you have to kill constantly. Not to mention the annoying noise.

Sleeping isn't difficult. It's often just an immediate passing of time with little consequence. If location or conditions were used it would be more interesting. For instance, if it was raining you wouldn't be able to sleep outdoors. If it were cold perhaps you would need to start a fire, which would require some gathering of materials - likely in the immediate vicinity. Night should also be a consequence. Weariness should start after 16-18 hours without sleep. Things that require concentration become more difficult...spell proficiency, crafting skills. Things that require exertion or strength become more difficult. Even later, things like lowered perceptional abilities, perhaps the player might hear sounds from the wrong direction or sound affects might become a bit quieter. Etc, etc.
