I think its a brilliant feature.

Im pretty sure the engineer will be told if their mine is disarmed, as Im guessing you can only lay down so many mines at once and laying down any more removes the first one, so knowing it's been disarmed would allow you to lay down another one. As for friendly fire shooting the mine, Im guessing it'd detonate causing damage to the player standing on it.

Kinda odd ho they developed cloak technology for their mines, but not for any of the troopers.

When you scale it up enough to cover a whole human, the electromagnetic field causes insanity.

Obviously.

Best trick ever.

You want to know whats not cool about mines. That Operatives can set missions on the objective wheel which lead them directly to mines. Like is wasn't going to be easy enough for them to spot with how huge they are and them being highlighted for them to see they don't need to hold there hand leading them directly to them now.

This and the fact that once an Operative marks a mine it can be blown up by anyone pretty much makes mines useless and the Eng ability to disarm not really that useful. Pretty disappointing considering the cool game mechanics that were involved with mines.

Well not so gotcha.

Consider that if the operative takes up the objective to find he mine, that takes him away from other ojectives that might be more imporatant at the time.
It also clusters up the objective wheel adding a bit more time to sort out for him to do.

Even appon finding the mine, he can spot it, but will still need to shoot the mine to blow it up, wasting ammo.

I really hope that isn't true. I could see how they want the classes to all interact uniquely, but what is the point of placing mines at all when a bored operative gets led directly to it unless of course you are trying to trap the operative which seems like a lot of wasted time and effort just to get one kill.

:meh: I'd actually prefer it if mines went off immediately, but with the number of people parkouring around I think it'll still catch a few off guard.

Yeah as soon as I saw that in the video I said "BAD [censored] ASS!" and my girlfriend asked what had gotten me so excited. I explaind it to her and how in most games they arnt accurate as to how a mine behaves when its triggered...she didnt share my enthusiasm. <_<

But the most common type of mines trigger immediately after contact...a soldier standing still is still dangerous. A soldier missing a leg is significantly less dangerous.

I'm a little torn about this... I wasn't such a fan of mines because they looked like OHI's, but this whole Operative objective business? Sounds a bit ridiculous...

I've known this for about a week, maybe more. Though they are invisible to everyone except the Operative, when you step on it you can see it. Also, if you buy the mine ability, in rank 4 (which is like level 17 or something) you can buy the ability to have 1 extra mine. So that engineer can place 2 and if you get rescued from the first, he can still kill you with the second.

I'm pretty sure the Operative mine-hunting objective will only show up once he's seen the mine (but before spotting it).

It's one of those context-driven things - you already have to know it's there, and all you're doing is making sure everyone else does.
