Is anyone else a little disappointed in the video responses?

Yea, in all honesty, I wouldn't worry much at all. From the bits I've seen, these people don't seem to have ever played a SD game in there life. This type of game is really a specific genre of fps that appeals to certain types of gamers, just like some people like playing rpgs and others like sports games. You can see these kids all using ads, rarely using buffs and I've yet to see anyone cook their nades. Honestly, first thing I'm doing after setting up my character is remapping my controls, removing ads from such an important button. Here's hoping there's a hold crouch and toggle scope option in case I want ads for scoped styled weapons (I will have crouch on LT, and ads on the B button. Probably even move sprint to left thumbstick click and jump to the bumper, that way can have really fluid manual control of smart).

Do we have to keep tapping to sprint or is it one tap and it keeps sprinting? I'm also slightly confused how SMART works without the smart button.

Tap=sprint
hold down=SMART

Edit: Can't post a new message yet so I''l just explain here. Holding down the sprint button engages SMART while tapping it once will make you sprint.

So from what I've seen here's the breakdown:

Sprint = tap (left bumper)
Smart = hold (left bumper)

Similar for other controls as well (i.e: jump...)

Edit: I was beaten lol

Also, it stays on till you stop moving, similar to borderlands, at least thats how they described it.

Anyone know if crouch is toggle or hold or if there is an option?

i believe sprint is toggled on and off unless cancelled, and you auto-SMART by holding and manual SMART by tapping. although i could be wrong.

Ah, okay. I wish the manual SMART was explained better.

brink doesn't need aim assist becuase hip-firing is a viable method in this game, epically for close to mid range as far as i can tell, and ADS seems mostly for mid to long range, which to me is very balanced out.

IMO, hip-fire hardly seems any more viable than it is in any other game. One of the few things I was disappointed about, even burst-fire starts getting crazy spread.

The default it toggle crouch but you can change it to hold.

I've heard a lot of people complain that it's hard to aim in Brink on console because they don't have their precious aim-assist. This is also somewhat ironic, seeing as how I hear a lot of console gamers complain that aim-assist isn't needed. I guess these so-called "Pros" have no idea what they're talking about. It's that Call of Duty mentality.

In any case, I'm so glad I'm part of the glorious PC Gaming Master Race.

if this is true im preording jumb for joy

Well If you are asking what I think you are asking then it goes like this
Wall hoping-Press the jump button while mid air and touching a wall
sliding-Press crouch while sprinting or just as you land to avoid fall damage
vauting-I believe it pressing the jump button when you reach the object(not sure on this on)
climbing- Press jump again at the height of your jump.

You gotta remember the people who were able to legitimately play it at different events and saying it played well.

Pretty sure vaulting will be done by jumping with proper timing before you reach the object, not jumping when you're already at it.

Look at Mirror's Edge for example of manual vaulting.

Also, wallhops won't be SMARTable - you'll have to use the jump button to do it.

I'm sorry if this kind of topic isn't allowed, but I'm not showing any spoilers or anything so I figured it would be okay.

A lot of the videos shown from people who have gotten Brink early have been very negative to the games and personally I blame the person playing the game. I just wanted to know is anyone else disappointed that some people are actually looking at these videos and taking the opinions of the people seriously?

I'm not entirely surprised by the reactions, but at least a good portion of those individuals are hardcoe CoD players that see competition in Brink and will nitpick anything. As a well informed consumer, I know that the Day 1 patch will address current issues and make the overall experience better. I'll reserve my final judgements on the game after I actually play it and until then, will continue to enjoy the various videos and streams currently circulating the internet.
