Class to body type matches

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:06 am

What body types do you think will be best suited to the gameplay of what classes?

I am thinking the Operative will be best suited to the Light body type, being able to be fast and agile will help to infiltrate enemy positions.
My Medic will probably be Light as well, being able to quickly get to your team mates and heal them while avoiding enemy fire.
I believe the Soldier will be best suited to the heavy type; one: because heavy weapons seem best suited to a solider, two: being able to withstand enemy fire while placing explosives, assuming damage doesn't interrupt the process.
And Engineer: Medium, one: because Medium is the odd one out, and because the engineer doesn't as far as I can tell, need to be particularly strong or agile either way.

What are your thoughts and plans on this matter?

That's the beauty of it though. You can be a heavy operative or a heavy medic, light soldier or light engineer. It's all your choice and if you experiment you might find your personal skill. For all I know, my secret weapon that fits my play style might end up being a heavy soldier. Which is opposite of what I want to be, but you will learn what you want after you play the game. :disguise:

every class and body type makes a good character.
but i would say light for operative for the smart.
and heavy engineer, imagine what a heavy with a minigun + a turret can destroy/support

I was thinking Engineer and OP being light for me since i can see putting a turret in a good spot but not being able to reach unless light and for the op it just seems most reasonable. Then Soldiers and Medics would be medium/heavy since Soldiers would be in the front line blowing stuff up and Medics would be healing, buffing, and reviving everyone who's being shot at.

We've had these threads a few times.

Heavy Op will be able to tank alongside an escort objective and spot mines as the VIP/robot approaches them. Or possibly spot enemy Operatives (still unclear whether Ops can see through disguises). They'll also be able to survive longer than other Operatives when hacking Operative objectives.

Also, who doesn't want an unsuspected minigun popping out behind enemy lines after your Op disguised and got into a good position to block their retreat?

As for Light Soldiers, throw a frag and a molotov from a good hidden posiiton, knockdown half the enemy team, drop in and instant incap the nearest downed enemy with a melee before anyone's even realised what's going on. A couple of bursts of SMG fire to fend off anyone trying to follow, and vanish again. Or a couple of Barrett shots to finish one or two more enemies before you're gone.

You know i wonder about that too but i finally came up with that...i'll try everything literaly, all bodytypes in all classes and i'll keep the ones that feel right to me.
(My thought is to start with challenges on release,do them and re-do them as much as i have to,to have a solid view on what feels better to my gamestyle).

Nevertheless i like reading your ideas and comments about it,so keep on :)

Soldier - Heavy
Medic - Medium
Engineer - Medium
Operative - Light

This is why I'm so glad that we can have strange mixes of weight classes. I've listed what best fits stereotypes that have been around forever.
Fighters are big and strong. Workers in medical and engineering are balanced. Ninjas are skinny and fast.

Imagine the possibilities of:

Soldier - Light (High Damage and Speed, low health. Like an explosion.)
Medic - Heavy (He and his teammates never die. A live medic is a live team.)
Engineer - Light (Build things in strange places. Greater control over the movement of the enemy. Imagine a hunter setting traps in a forest)
Operative - Heavy (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA but seriously, folks. Fat ninjas are fun. Also, stealth and heavy weapons for surgical strikes that destroy EVERYTHING)

Using weight as a health/power tradeoff (juggernaut...stopping power...hmm...) in its own system while using class as a special abilities tradeoff in its own system. Both of these working at the same time. Brilliant.

Fat Ninjas! XD

This game uses common strategic phenotypes. If you understand which one you prefer then you understand which you'd prefer in any game that has any variation of function in it.

Invincibility, Control, Growth, Thievery, Power, Speed, Intelligence, Teamwork, Adaptability. Assign a total of 9 points among these categories as you see fit to see what playstyle you'd prefer in all games with any strategy in them.
