Connary's Graphical Compendium#7

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:30 pm

I'm not sure what is worst. One flamer or 12 people giving him an audience so he'll continue.

I think Connary's is going to be taking some time off. Please allow him his privacy. I'm sure he'll be back when it's fun again. :foodndrink:

He isn't taking time off, hes leaving to get more work done :P

They aren't terrible at all, you should see some of the Oblivion meshes/textures, dang, some of that stuff is great, I just wish they would make 1024 textures.

True that. People bash morrowind's textures now - but the game looked gorgeous when it first came out. For the time, beth did a really good job...

There's a good reason why vanilla detail was what it was in the earlier days compared to what we see today.
One being pc power and speed at that time. When MW came out, the computers of those days wouldn't have
a chance at running a pot load of 1024 and MGE. And the other is the advancement of such wonderful software
tools since then. What took days to create then takes only hours now. Thanks to the modding community
you and I would have had to spend a lot more for the copy of MW if was initially created the way in which
we see it now, by payed employees.

Hmm, it has been rubbed in my face. :P

You are right, Morrowind was one of the prettier games around when it first came out, this I remember. I should've said something more along the lines of,

"Dang... Thank God for Connary." :hubbahubba:

Where can one download connary's work these days? His files seem to have been removed from planet elder scrolls and that is the only apparent host I've been able to locate.

You can't get them now, he removed them because they were outdated files.

Not entirely true. You can still get them on sites that host Connary's work without his permission. But, because of this, I, at least, will not be telling you what those are.

Well thanks for not providing any helpful information whatsoever. It's a good thing you're here to correct everyone.

Actually, that information was pretty helpful in letting you know they are around if you apply some effort to get them, though they will probably not be linked to by anyone as if they are available anywhere it is against the wishes of the creator (and thereby shouldn't be there in the first place really).

Exactly. I'm sorry oiyd, I'm not trying to be an ass, though I think it looks that way. If Connary comes back and says it's ok to link you there, then I will gladly do so.

So, if Connary reads this: for future reference, is it alright to post links to places where your older releases are still available?

When did this wave of noobs happen? Greendogo is doing the right thing. If Connary doesn't want his work downloaded, then he has the right to deny it be downloaded. What Greendogo is doing is out of respect for Connary. Kindly respect his respect.

I think we've seen enough mod artists give up the hobby simply because people were all to eager to jump all over their work when they didn't want it downloaded/distributed.

So the date at which you registered equates to your worth as a poster? Glad that you've finally found something to be proud of in your life.

The moment he shared his files they were placed in the public domain and out of his hands. It's the nature of the internet. Not that I care. I just want to play morrowind with nice textures.

Connary doesn't want his old textures shared anymore, because he is releasing his new work soon. It seems like any site that still has them available is going against his wishes, therefore most of us are not going to insult his artistic vision by supporting them. It's kinda what a community does.

Besides, there are many other beautiful textures available for download from other modders.
Like Darknut, Skydye, Mr. Swiveller, Plangkye, starwarsguy9875... just to name a few modders who have nice textures for you to use.

If you have no respect for someone's wishes, then why should we care about yours? Just learn how to use Google and you will surely have your nice textures in your game. And probably at some point in life you will also find something to be proud of (respect, for instance?).

Also, you might want to know that this community is not very friendly about trolling and flamebaiting. Continuing on this tone will certainly get you reported to moderators - here we try to learn how to behave in a civilized way, although we are all aware of "the nature of the internet"... ;)

It's people like you who are ruining the modding community. :stare:

Anyway, I agree with Painkiller.
