A worldbuilding project

I'm compiling sources pertaining to Nationalist era society, in the US. I have serious history, like The Guns of August and Over There, but I need info on the superstitions and fringe worldviews, expressed in science, religion, politics, and technology. I need contemporary sources on the occult fiction, extraterrestrial life, and hidden, zany history. Stuff like space flight in blimps, and moon men. Sources of contemporary vernacular would be appreciated. I'm having a hard time knowing where to begin searching.

Space flight in blimps. Sounds like some Jules Verne stuff right there.

Exactly. That's in the spirit of what I'm looking for.

Edit: WWI's part of the setting, except in Armistice, the name of the fiction, it's remembered as the War of Revealings. The War begins with an invasion of the US, by the Huns and Mexicans.

Looks outrageous, which is important to my plan for Armistice. I want parody and satire, as much as I do a sci-fantasy world. Euler's Hollow Earth is a proven fact, and Birth of a Nation and A Trip to the Moon are objective history and journalism.

And thanks for the suggestion agent_c.
