Futurama. I win a cookie.
Anyway, in my opinion, I think at the fall of Kvatch, some sort of divine influence drove the Champion of Cyrodil there.

Divine influence? Hardly. It was Jauffre saying "You must go to Kvatch RIGHT NOW. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. The heir in terrible danger despite the fact absolutely nothing will happen if you never, ever set foot there and go off to chase butterflies in the next few months. And please, let me keep the Amulet here where it'll easily get raided by the enemy the moment you return with the heir."
So I wouldn't really ascribe the flimsy plot to divine intervention unless you want to discredit the Nine Divines.
