The Dog getting shot in the Trailer and AI

Bethesda disagrees.

No they don't. Read my post a couple pages ago or whatever. They didn't lie, they're just saying something in way that people can interpret to mean what THEY want and not how it really is. They're completely telling the truth. They're just doing it in a really deceptive way.

Yes they do.

Also the wolves in GI are shown strafing, so this could be a common AI thing. :celebration:

Back to the topic: just reviewed the trailer, and that wolf (dog? no way!) turns straight at you the last moment. So I don't think he was dodging at all.

And yes, the bow draw animation looks weird... can't actually say what's wrong, it's just not smooth enough or something... look at this: http://h-5.abload.de/img/theelderscrollsv_skyriymsq.gif The arrow jumps up and down. I dunno...

EDIT: fixed the link

I thought it was pretty easy to tell that the Dragon Fight wasn't "Actual" Gameplay. It's more like a cutscene rendered with the In-Game Engine, showing off the animations and sense of scale, and it does that remarkably well.

As for Roger, I don't believe it's attempting to Evade the arrow, but it may be attempting to "Flank" since most animals will never attack face-to-face. It could also just be it's pathfinding, I think you're all just reading too much into things right now.

In reference to the dragon having a combat style that incorporates the behaviors shown in the trailer. Meaning, unlike EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME, they don't just come at you in a straight line spamming attacks. I was talking more about Dovakin or however you spell it. Almost none of his animations are gameplay related.

Who's claimed it was all fake?

DaMuncha did. Nobody was talking about the dragon fight and how awesome it was or whatever, people were talking about a scene where the hero gets attacked by a wolf and is about to shoot it in first person. And then someone comes along and says "people need to understand the whole gameplay trailer is scripted" and you want to convince me that he was obviously talking about the dragon fight? I agree that it seemed like he wanted to talk about the dragon fight (for whatever reason), but he did talk about the whole trailer. Hence my post, in which I divide the trailer into three parts to make it easier to have a discussion going. If someone is talking about part 2 in a thread that's completely about part 3, then he's in the wrong place.

ok, wolf is obviously trying to dodge the arrow---->he has changed his direction and started to run uphill, while in oblivion creatures would take the easier way

Is that a little pond or just steam rising from the ground in this scene?

Are wolves supposed to be that smart to dodge and weave in order to avoid an arrow? Would make more sense for an NPC foe instead, not animals!

Wolves in REAL LIFE circle their prey. Wolves are highly intelligent for animals.

It's because it's a person, not a machine. The irregularity of the movement brings more realism to the game.

I don't see this as intelligent at all.. Canines/wolves lack the cognitive ability to realise a bow and arrow means you should flank or try to dodge.. Thrusting a sword at a creature triggers and automated response to dodge, but the arrow is stationary and would move far too quickly to avoid.

I would imagine a single wolf attacking outside of a pack would run direct on if it realises it's Been spotted.

I wonder if the wolf knows that it's being aimed at by your magic (staff)?

I think the issue here is that people are simply believing that because the wolf is turning, it's because the bow is drawn.

This likely isn't the case at all, and is merely coincidence. The more likely case is that the wolf is simply circling like it would in real life. Pack animals tend to incorporate those kinds of tactics.
