An invisible wall!

Now for some explanation. A while back I asked in this section what would happen if you reached the edge of Daggerfall's map. Was there an invisible wall? Did it just go on forever with randomly generated terrain? Nobody could give me an answer because, with the map being so large, they never came close to reaching the border. Well yesterday I attempted to start Daggerfall again (I had never escaped the first dungeon before), and with the help of the invincibility cheat I was able to clear that dungeon and make it to Daggerfall. Before I started to actually play the game, I wanted to find out the answer to my question, so I traveled to Buckingham Grange, the northwestern most town in Northmoor, and headed towards the coast. Even with the cheat for 6x running speed activated, it still took a few minutes to reach! But once I got there (after the jarring instant transition between the mainland's texture and the coast's texture), and headed north for a bit, I was disappointed to find that there's simply an invisible wall blocking you from going any further. I went back to the mainland and made sure the invisible wall was there as well, and sure enough, it was. So I think it's safe to assume that this is the case for every border in the game. Note that when you hit the invisible wall, you don't get a pop-up message like you do in Oblivion, you simply stop moving.

I'm happy to finally have an answer to this question, and now that I know what the border's like, I'll move on to enjoying the actual game.

In Arena there's a border between a city, the border gets quite messed up in water and I somehow got past it, a gamebreaking bug...

Yup, an invisible wall players will most likely never run into. :)

It was one of the first things I tried when I got the Internet and looked up what were the cheats.
I also tried going to the Leviathan-like creature on the world map to see if it was there....but since the game can only locate you if you're in a province, I never made it. :P

Yeah there was so much empty space between the town and the coast that if I were traveling at normal speed, I would have given up a while before ever reaching the border.

Oh that'd be interesting, though thanks to the internet we know that nothing's there. If I had played Daggerfall as a kid, without internet, I would have tried that too.

I did that once, went to the most north town i could find, then just rode my horse for the border, took about 15mins, but then I hit that invisible wall.
