Alright so oblivion started crashing about where it says loading, right at the point where it switches from the oblivion icon to a splash screen so I disabled all mods and launched oblivion and it started crashing right after the B in bethesda showed up at. in the little video at the begining never even made it into the loading section.

Have learned thanks to my stop watch it will crach 22 seconds from when I hit play. The only time it chrashes faster is if I have no mods active.

Did you regenerate the Oblivion.ini? If you regenerated it and you are using Darnified UI (or one of its spin-offs), did you re-apply any font tweaks?
