Nirnroot in Skyrim

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:45 am

In the new trailer to Skyrim I believe I saw Nirnoot.
- Note, someone has probably already posted this and pointed it out before which will ultimately bring my topic to it's inevitable demise, but if so, I don't know about it, so... yeah.

In the new trailer for Skyrim, at about 1 minute 43 seconds, a character is stabbing someone who is kneeling over with what appears to be water or tears (nice effect Bethesda) on his face. In the background there is a green glowing plant which, upon further inspection looks like a five leafed version of the Nirnroot plant from Oblivion.

I would be more than happy to post a link to the video, but I don't know if that is against the rules of this site, so if you know, please tell me.

Edit: it has five leaves on the edges, and one pointing up from the center, not just five.

Also, if these are not actually "leaves," excuse me as I am not a botanist.

Not to brag, but I definitely saw two. There's one farther back in the background to the right.

Yeah, I see the second one as well, perhaps it is not rare in Skyrim? Or perhaps that is one of those rare places where you find t in more than one place.
- By the way, Nirnroot, despite all of the stuff about it, is not rare at all, in fact it is one one of the easier plants to find.

Yup. They pause on 2 Nirn root like plants in the IGN trailer anolysis thing.
It’s quite possible that they are Nirnroot.

I hope they are just a generic ingredient now. As a collection item it was sort of out of place for a game like Oblivion.

Yeah, it's definitely a Nirnroot. Here's hoping they'll actually be worth gathering this time.

I had lots of fun with the nirnroot collecting. it was kind of a team effort. everytime the wife saw one while i was playing she pipe up "nirnroot" even if i was fighting something. She was always a better spotter than i was. lol

I say BRING ON DA ROOTS. :foodndrink:

The guys at IGN did a dissection of the trailer and pointed out 2 nirnroot in one scene.

Great, another 300? This is turning into the Gaenor of alchemy. Hopefully it's just a common ingredient and not another quest related OCD adventure.

It seems Sindarion in the Skingrad Mages Guild was able to grow Nirnroots in his lab, and then a freak storm blew all the seeds to Skyrim. Now, those plants can be found as common as aloe vera near Anvil...
