Daggerfall - Get Quest Broken

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:59 am

I just reinstalled Daggerfall, no mods or anything. Lately, I've experienced a bug that completely stops me from getting (Specifically) mage guild quests. I talked to the quest giver, who said, "blah blah blah, Have you figured out what do with BLANK yet?" or something to that effect. Ever since then, clicking on "Get Quest" just brings up the TALK screen, instead of actually getting me a quest. I don't have any outstanding quests with the Mages Guild or anything. Unfortunately, I just finished doing a Lodestone quest, so I don't have any saves that would be before I talked to the quest giver (if that was the catalyst.) Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Also, I have picked up Mages Guild quests, so this hasn't been going on since the start of the game.

There's a bug sometimes that even if you've completed a quest, it'll stay active until the time limit has passed and your journal or the quest dialogue will have the "BLANK" word instead of the amount of gold pieces as a reward, the NPC's name or the location.

You can fast travel back and forth from one province to the other to make time pass quickly, then speak to the quest giver again. Make sure to select Camp Out option to avoid spending on beds. :P

Ahhh, thank you so much! I was worried I had broken my save, and had to restart. :D

Cheers! :foodndrink:

It's always a good idea to use more than one save slot for your game. I always keep a save before accepting quests in case the game crashes. I keep one before entering dungeons, another one inside the dungeon and finally one that I use at all time. :)

Definitely, especially with a game like Daggerfall. Issue was that I did have multiple saves, but by the time that I figured out something was wrong, it was 2-3 hours later and all the saves had been written over.

I'll take that advice about using dedicated dungeon saves though. Those dungeons are brutal.
