[REQ] Conversion of maps from normal to widescreen resolutio

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:45 pm

Hello everyone.

After another reinstallation of Oblivion with all the mods I want to use, except for the mods listed below is not working with the map icons.
However if I remove the West Roads the rest of them is working with the correct map icons, which is not the kinda solution I'm happy about.

Here is the mods I've installed.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3002 - xythen
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26389 - TheNiceOne
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20218 -Arthmoor
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29523 - mariedanj
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5022 - JSera
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 - Iliana
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22401 - TamrielRebuiltTeam

It would be wonderful if these mods could have maps without *any* http://a.imageshack.us/img801/8560/misplacediconscorrectma.jpg map icons.
The map is from 1280x800 * video settings and the ingame map is 1024 size.

Also I'm not a modder and I had never worked with dds or any compressed image before.
Thanks to all authors for these excellent mods.

Is there anyone who have the knowledge of this things please let us know. :)

I use Anequia and Stirk and a 1360 x 768 widerscreen and they fit fine...

Have you changed the resolution in game correctly?

Widescreen or not shouldn't matter in this case, just the dimensions/cell coordinates of the Tamriel worldspace. I think the problem is that you have Stirk installed, which expands the Tamriel map, without having an extended map installed. If you look closely you'll notice it is not the mapmarkers that are misplaced but the map underneath.

[edit]
Are you using the Stirk_Compatibility_Path? What's your loadorder?
[/edit]

[edit2]Try loading WestRoads before Stirk.[/edit2]

Thanks for that info I didn't know that.

What do you mean by changing resolution correctly?

I think he means changing it to non-widescreen to see if the problem is the same.

[edit]Try out a mod called Merged Maps. The problem is with a mismatch in Tamriel's worldspace dimensions and the actual maptexture.[/edit]

I was thinking the same thing.

What you first said maybe be true, but not with problem I've now.
When I use a map of all installed mods, without showing the West Roads that map+icons is correct.

This map is http://a.imageshack.us/img839/224/31361112722823642905522.jpg, but the map icons is http://a.imageshack.us/img801/8560/misplacediconscorrectma.jpg.

EDIT - I've tried a different resolution and still messed up

Hello everyone.

Hello leonardo2 :)

Try my one from my complilations of map mods, linked to in my signature below. (you will probably want http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31277 with the mods you have listed. 4, 6 or 8 if you have Bartholm and/or Leyawiin Reborn [Open Cities Reborn] as well.)

* Note that West Roads includes its own game map - so if installed will overwrite any earlier installed map mod - just make sure to load the "Elven Map Compilation" mod last.

*As you have Stirk, you will also need the MergedMaps.esp file (And have it practically dead last in your load order - after the bashed patch even!) This can be found through a link on the Compilation pages as well.
Either just pull out the esp file from that mod and stick it in your data folder, or install the mod with OBMM then install the Compilation map over top of that.

Your screen resolution should work just fine (I just tried it on my build and it did anyway.)

This map is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/31361-1-1272282364.jpg, but the map icons is http://a.imageshack.us/img801/8560/misplacediconscorrectma.jpg.

Yup: You have the wider version of the map (required to show Stirk, it doesn't fit on the original map)
But NOT the MergedMaps.esp file which shifts the icons in order to be placed properly on the resized map. Basically you have replaced/rezized the map, but not the icons. :shocking: (Imagine an overlay for one map and trying to fit it over a different scale map; none of the markers would match up right - same thing here.)

Hello Vargr :)

This solution is exactly what I was looking for, because of you Vargr I've no more misplaced map icons. :D
I forgot to tell you that I've also installed the Bartholm mod, but that was not a problem either with this solution.

I really appreciate this and thank you so much for your help. :twirl:

I'm afraid that was short lived solution, because of this http://a.imageshack.us/img251/4994/corruptwinsetupedit01.png which don't allow me to even start a new game. :brokencomputer:
I've a healthy LO through BOSS and bashed patch as you should.

Okay. I've thinking a lot for the past week now and decided to let my recent problem be solved with a fresh OS installation. :)

But I'm still sceptical to have the Merged Maps.esp loaded after the Bashed Patch in my LO.

I wonder if there is another solution to discuss and maybe an option to Vargr's suggestion.
The next reply is also a guidance to me where I should turn to.

Looks fine to me. What's the problem? That's what you should be seeing - Windows only states the size of the folder into which a program has been installed, not the size of the specific files for the program. Thus since all the DLCs install to the same folder as the game itself, and since all installed mods also go into the same folder as the game itself, they should all be the same large size.

If the game is quitting on start-up, then you have either:
1 ) edited Oblivion.ini to change fonts used by the game, but neglected to actually install the font
2 ) installed an ESP which is dependant on another ESM or ESP, but you don't have that other ESM or ESP in your load order

2 is most likely, and Wrye Bash will highlight any mod missing a master in red/orange (I can't recall which colour).

Do what Vargr suggested, place the map ESP after the Bash Patch.

Let me explain what is shown of the picture; I mean that size of Windows installed programs has not be that large ever, because Oblivion / CS it self has always been approx 5,92 MB and the DLC somewhere between 2 Mb to 3,5 Mb. The OBMM should never be that large in first place and has always have a size lower than the DLC.

I think the colour for a missing master plugin is orange or red+yellow in Wrye Bash.

I've now installed Windows 7 so I could use Vargr's solution of the misplaced map icons. :user:
