Sunny Smiles: Possible Glitch

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi, I've just started NV and I'm loving every second of it. However, I think i may have came across a quest glitch regarding Sunny Smiles. See below....

Spoiler
After completing the initial couple of quests that Sunny gives you (killing the Geckos and making healing powder on a campfire), She tells me that she is heading back to town for a drink or something, so I decide to have a wander around and explore the area. I meet a guy called Barton Thorn walking around and he asks me to help his girfriend up teh top of a hill who is being attacked by geckos. I accept this and just as I'm heading towards the hill, I see a "Quest Failed" message popping up. I'm not sure exactly what quest it was referring to, but what I'm confused about is the fact that I found poor Sunny Smiles dead up that hill. She was caught in a bear trap!!!

Am I now in a position where I can't complete certain quests? Is this going to be a major problem for me? Has anyone else experienced this?

Should be ok, as far as I am aware she isn't available for any more quests after this one and the only useful thing she does is tell you where Primm is, I think anyway, I've spoke to her long after I left Goodsprings quests and the only dialogue I have with her has already been used..

Ah that svcks, did you make saves? Best to make saves ritually in this game, since you are at the beginning it seems, its not too much to re-do, but save as much as possible cause weird things like that can and will happen.

EDIT: And yeah, she isn't too important, but if you are worried about that quest re-load a save if you have it, or don't worry about it, she's not vital to the game

The quest failed message was probably in regards to Ghost Town Gunfight - since you have to talk to her before you can start hitting all the optionals to assist Ringo in fighting off the Powder Gangers. It's not the end of the world, and if you plan an evil playthrough, it actually saved you having to kill one more person should you decide to work for Joe Cobb instead of Ringo.

Yep, I'm using new slot for every save I make manually, and also letting autosave do its thing too. I spent over 150 hours in Fallout 3 and loved it. I want to get as much out of this game as possible, so I was worried that Sunny's unfortunate twist of fate would chop off other quests or rewards etc. This is one of the things I love about Bethesda games... the open world, where not everything is a certainty. I've been loving Beth games since Morrowind :)

Ah well.... Sunny Smiles... RIP lol
